Top 6 2026s from the Top Tier Roos Summer 2024 Tryouts

From December 1st-3rd the Top Tier Roos held their Summer 2024 Tryouts for players in the 2025-2028 classes. Players went through bullpens and batting practice inside on Friday night, a pro-style workout on Saturday, and live game action on Sunday. As usual there were plenty of standouts among all the classes and our scouting staff was able to highlight the best of the best.

Below we continue our event breakdown with the Top 6 2026s in attendance. We will then follow with the Top 7 2027s. We highlighted the Top 5 2025s yesterday.

Top 6 2026s

2026 IF/RHP Kasey Mink (Palm Harbor University HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Has become noticeably more physical, especially in the upper body. On the mound featured a fastball up to 83 mph with more in the tank. Ball comes out of his hand easy. Also flashed a 70-71 mph curveball with depth. The additional strength has also translated offensively as he found the barrel for multiple hard hit line drives back up the middle, into left field while showing present pull side juice as well. Tops out at 85 on his throws across the diamond, fielding the ball with confidence. Strong follow.

2026 OF/RHP Matt Altman (Bishop McLaughlin HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Stood out both offensively and on the mound. Strong, durable frame. Took some of the loudest rounds of batting practice, driving the ball to the left field wall, deep into the left-center gap. Fast, strong hands through the zone and implements his physical lower half into the swing. Top exit velocity of 98 mph. During game action he struck out multiple batters, did not allow a base runner. Featured a fastball up to 83 mph mostly sitting 80-82 while mixing in a 69-71 curveball with depth. Plenty of swings and misses. Very strong follow.

2026 IF/RHP Nate Downey (Master’s Academy, FL)

Uncommitted. Stood out as a two-way prospect throughout the weekend. Offensively he took an impressive couple rounds of batting practice as he showed a present feel for the barrel, driving the ball deep into right, right-center field. Still more power to unlock as well. Shows some upside on the bump, releasing from a lower 3/4 slot. Mostly sat 80-83 mph with his fastball that showed run along with a 70-71 mph changeup and a 66-68 mph breaking ball. Long and projectable frame that will continue to become more physical, see jumps in his overall game.

2026 IF/RHP Kaden Waechter (Jesuit HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Tall frame that has present strength throughout and drives the ball with intent. Produced multiple line drives deep into the gaps during his batting practice rounds. Demonstrated gap-to-gap power. Fast, strong hands through the zone with still more power to unlock. This translated to game action when he roped one down the right field line for a triple. Has also been in the upper 80s on the bump too. Good bloodlines. Very strong follow.

2026 RHP Parker Mitzel (Berkeley Prep, FL)

Uncommitted. Was one of the top arms at the event, showing a present feel for his full arsenal while running his fastball up to 89 mph. Mostly sat 87-88 and got multiple swings and misses. Also mixed in a 73-74 mph slider and an 81-82 mph changeup. Ball really jumps out of his hand. Look for another jump in the near future. Strong follow.

2026 C/UT Ashton Brown (Florida Virtual, FL)

Uncommitted. Strong lower half that he implements into his swing offensively. During batting practice he displayed gap-to-gap power, present feel for the barrel. Lots of deep drives into left field, center field. Banged it off the left field wall a couple times while driving a few pitches the other way as well. This was seen during game action when he got ahold of one and crushed a ball to deep left-center field for a triple during game action. Strong follow moving forward.
