Elite Squad 2023 Summer Tryouts Standouts Part 1

Elite Squad 2023 Summer Tryouts Standouts Part 1

From December 9th-11th, Elite Squad held their Summer 2023 Team Tryouts which took place at Miller Park in Delray Beach, FL. Over the three-day stretch players went through bullpens, a pro-style workout, and game action on the final day of the event. With close to 200 players in attendance ranging from the 2024-2027 classes, there was plenty of talent all over the field.

Below is Part 1 of the standouts highlighted from the event that made an impact on our scouting staff and will be strong follows moving forward as we head into the spring season.

*Note: The players mentioned below were ones seen by our Scouting Director for the event on Saturday and Sunday.

2024 MIF Manny Marin (Elite Squad Baseball Academy, FL)

Tennessee commit. Continues to be one of the top follows in his class nationally as he really stood out during the event. Loose, fast hands offensively that consistently find the barrel for loud, hard contact. Gap-to-gap power and the ball really jumps off the bat. Simple approach and works in rhythm. Present athleticism with an above average arm across the diamond that tops out at 90 mph. Look for Marin to stay high atop draft boards for the 2024 class.

2024 IF Ethan Puig (Westminster Christian, FL)

Miami commit. Stood out from an offensive standpoint as he displayed easy bat speed from the right side, barreling it multiple times for deep drives into the gaps. Simple approach and works in rhythm. Confident hitter who always seems to deliver the big hit when needed. Strong follow.

2025 1B/LHP Mark Aleman (American Heritage Plantation HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Tall frame with some present strength throughout. Will continue to become more physical which will only result in jumps in his overall game. Offensively he displayed present pull side juice from the left side, lacing the ball deep into right field and right-center field. Can really pitch as well, running his fastball up to 82 mph with late movement. Present feel for his offspeed stuff. Showed above average actions around the bag as well. Strong follow.

2025 MIF Jordany Gonzalez (Miami Springs HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Athletic frame that projects to continue to fill out which should result in jumps in power offensively. Above average bat speed from the right side with some present feel for the barrel. Stays balanced throughout his swing and drove multiple pitches back up the middle with intent. Confident defender up the middle with accurate and on line throws across the diamond, topping out at 84 mph. Strong follow.

2025 MIF Zachary Cairns (Archbishop McCarthy HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Lean, athletic frame. Will continue to become more physical. Stood out during batting practice when he produced lots of hard line drives all over the field. Quick hands from the right side and works out in front to drive the ball into the gaps. Expect to see jumps in power. Registered a 6.93 for his 60 yard dash time.

2025 MIF Taisuky Rodriguez (Miami Springs HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Present athleticism with a frame that will add physicality. Really stood out defensively up the middle ranging all over and making multiple throws from different arm slots with accuracy. Bounce in his step with above average actions. Smooth defender. Also displayed present bat speed from the right side as well.

2026 MIF Kobe Carrion (St. Brendan HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Lean, athletic frame with room to fill out. Offensively the hands are loose and quick through the zone, allowing him to drive the ball gap-to-gap, most notably into left-center field. Expect to see jumps in power as he continues to become more physical. Up the middle defensively he ranges freely to his left and right, fielding the ball with confidence and showing above average actions. Also clocked in a 6.98 seconds for his 60 yard dash time. Strong follow.

2026 C John Chen See (Terra Environmental, FL)

Uncommitted. Present strength throughout. Stood out offensively as he flashed some big power potential from the left side as he sent several pitches deep into right field. Level to uphill path that creates loud contact. Suited to drive in runs in the heart of the order.

2026 IF/OF Jackson Sizemore (Tocoi Creek HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Long, athletic frame that projects. Really liked the offensive potential from the left side as he drove the ball all over the field during his batting practice rounds. Works from a wider stance and allows the ball to travel into the zone, driving it where it’s pitched. More gap-to-gap power to come. Confident defender anywhere on the field as well. Strong follow.

2026 MIF Yuniel Paredes (Pace HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Compact frame. Stood out all over. Defensively he showed confident hands with strong throws across the diamond during defensive drills. Fields the ball under control, makes the plays. Offensively he displayed present power from the right side, driving the ball deep into left and left-center field during his batting practice rounds. Strong follow.
