Elite Squad 2023 Summer Tryouts Standouts Part 2

From December 9th-11th, Elite Squad held their Summer 2023 Team Tryouts which took place at Miller Park in Delray Beach, FL. Over the three-day stretch players went through bullpens, a pro-style workout, and game action on the final day of the event. With close to 200 players in attendance ranging from the 2024-2027 classes, there was plenty of talent all over the field. 

Below is Part 2 of the standouts highlighted from the event that made an impact on our scouting staff and will be strong follows moving forward as we head into the spring season. Part 1 is HERE

2024 OF Michael Torres (Doral Academy, FL)

Miami commit. Present above average athleticism, strength throughout. Expect to see jumps in pull side power as he continues to become more physical. Immediately stood out during batting practice as everything comes off the bat hard from the left side of the plate. Not only did he send multiple line drives the other way, but showed off his pull side pop as well. Big arm that topped out at 93 mph from the outfield, has been up to 90 mph on the bump. Clocked in at 6.88 seconds for his 60 yard dash time. Very strong follow, especially from a draft perspective. 

2025 IF Dylan Prince (Columbus HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Stood out as one the top prospects throughout the entire event. Offensively the ball really jumped off the bat as the hands are fast through the zone, finding the barrel consistently. Works from a wide base and a simple approach. This translated to game action when he showed off his fast hands, driving a ball down the left field line for a standup double. Defensively he shows confident hands, ability to range to his right and left during defensive drills. Topped out at 88 mph on his throws across the diamond. Clocked in at 6.75 seconds for his 60 yard dash time. Strong follow.

2025 OF/UT Carl Calixte-Cunillera (Palm Beach HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Athletic frame with room to still fill out, become more physical. Really liked his approach offensively as he stays balanced, uses a quick leg kick for his load. Fast hands through the zone and the ball really jumped off the bat. Lots of hard hit line drives into the gaps during batting practice. Present pull side pop as well. Above average arm from the outfield that topped out at 89 mph on his throws. Strong follow. 

2025 IF/OF Michael Ramos (Cypress Bay HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Long frame with lean strength throughout. Still room to fill out which will translate to jumps in power. Stood out offensively all throughout the event. During batting practice he produced lots of deep line drives into left-center and center field. Loud, hard contact with more power to come. This was seen again in game action when he barreled a pitch up and laced a ball back up the middle for a single. Strong follow. 

2025 IF/RHP Brady Benevides (Suncoast HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Present physicality throughout. Really stood out offensively as he barreled it up all over the place for loud, hard hit line drives from the right side. Produced lots of line drives with pull side juice as well. Middle of the order type bat to drive in runs. Sure handed fielder, makes the plays. Strong follow moving forward. 

2026 OF Gabe Gerhardt (Beachside HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Lean, athletic frame that will continue to add physicality. Put together some of the best rounds of batting practices in the 2026 group, lacing the ball all over the field for hard hit line drives. Stays quick and direct to the ball. Defensively he showed off an above average arm from right field on his throws into home. Accuracy and carry on his throws. Strong follow.

2026 MIF Miguel Delgado (Archbishop McCarthy HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Lean, athletic frame that will continue to fill out, become more physical. Stood out offensively when he displayed fast hands from the right side, driving the ball with intent multiple times into left-center field and back up the middle. Stays quick and direct to the ball. Strong follow. 

2026 MIF Allan Hernandez (Doral Academy, FL)

Uncommitted. Long, lean frame that projects to see jumps in power as he continues to fill out. Displayed loose, quick hands from the left side of the plate. Consistently drove the ball into right-center field during his batting practice rounds, finding the barrel. Power potential. 

2026 C Diego Rivero (Terra Environmental, FL) 

Uncommitted. Compact frame with a strong lower half. Stood out offensively where he produced lots of hard contact from the right side with multiple line drives back up the middle during batting practice. Behind the plate he showed off a strong and accurate arm from behind the plate, registering pop times in the 1.99-2.03 seconds range. Strong follow. 

2026 IF Jesus Salazar (Miami Springs HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Lean frame with present athleticism. Took a strong couple rounds of batting practice as he worked from a simple approach from the right side. Stays balanced and finds the barrel often. Gap-to-gap hitter with the potential to deliver plenty of extra base hits.
