Top Tier Roos/Kangaroo Court Roos Class of 2023/2024 Tryouts Standouts Part 1

This past weekend, the Top Tier Roos and Kangaroo Court Roos held their 2020 Team Tryouts which included over 100 players from the 2021-2024 classes. Players took batting practice at the Courthouse Performance Center on Friday night and then went through a pro-style workout on Saturday followed by games on Sunday at Carrollwood Day School.

There were numerous players in each class that stood out among our staff over the weekend so over the next several days we will be breaking down the standouts by grad class. Tonight, we continue with Part 1 of the 2023/2024 class breakdown:

2023 IF/RHP Aidan Miller (JW Mitchell HS, FL)
Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 175 pounds on a tall, athletic frame with strength throughout. Showed present power and drove the ball deep into the gaps during batting practice, which included several that went to the left and left center wall on one hop. Consistently finds the barrel and has a very confident approach. Shows above average defensive actions around the bag with a very strong arm across the diamond, topping out at 86 mph on his throws from third. Also topped out at 85 from the outfield, has been up to 88 mph on the mound before. Very strong follow nationally and is a big time difference maker in the lineup.

2023 MIF/RHP Cade Kurland (Berkeley Prep, FL)
Florida commit. Currently stands at 5-foot-11, 175 pounds on a projectable, athletic frame. Put on very impressive rounds of batting practice, showing explosive bat speed through the zone. Ball really jumps off the bat and drives the ball gap-to-gap. Top of the order type hitter with a high level of athleticism. Displayed confident hands with range up the middle with strong throws to the bag with accuracy. Above average feel for the game. Strong follow.

2023 C Troy Reader (Berkeley Prep, FL)
Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 175 pounds on a physical ,athletic frame. Had a strong overall weekend both offensively and defensively. Behind the plate, he displayed an accurate and above average arm on his throws down to 2nd, registering 1.97-2.0 seconds pop times. Offensively, he stays balanced throughout and utilizes his lower half. During game play he laced one into left-center field for a single. Above average defensive catcher with offensive tools. 

2023 OF Michael Graziano (Naples HS, FL)
Currently stands at 6-foot-2, 175 pounds on a projectable, athletic frame. Another one that really had a strong weekend all the way around. Showed above average speed by running one of the fastest 60 yard dash times in 6.71 seconds. Quick hands from the right side of the plate and consistently found the barrel during batting practice. Trusts his hands. Also topped out at 84 mph on his throws from right field during defensive drills. Strong follow. 

2024 OF/RHP Anthony Gualemi (N/A)
Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 145 pounds on a long, lean frame with room to fill out. Showed off accuracy on his throws from right field during defensive drills, topping out at 81 mph. Offensively, he shows quick hands from the left side with some feel for the barrel. As he continues to strengthen his frame, look to see a jumps in power, especially to the pull side. Was also up to 83 mph on the mound.

2023 1B Vance Celiberti (JW Mitchell HS, FL)
Currently stands at 5-foot-10, 170 pounds with a strong lower half. Stood out offensively during batting practice when he made loud, hard contact from the left side. Works in rhythm and looks to drive the ball to the pull side with intent. 

 2023 1B/3B Chase Gilligan (Wiregrass Ranch HS, FL)
Currently stands at 5-foot-10, 200 pounds on a strong, solid frame. Stood out offensively where he made loud, hard contact during batting practice. Swings with intent and the ball really jumps off the bat when he squares it up. 

2023 IF Landon O’Donnell (Lakeland Christian, FL)
Currently stands at 6-foot-2, 175 pounds on a long, athletic frame. Stood out defensively with an above average arm across the diamond with throws accurate to the bag., topping out at 82 mph. Also clocked in at 7.01 seconds for his 60 yard dash time.

2023 MIF/RHP Chase McKelvey (Beaufort HS, SC)
Currently stands at 6-foot, 160 pounds on a lean frame with room to fill out. Offensively, he showed quick hands from the right side of the plate that projects to see jumps in power as he matures. Showed an above average arm in both the infield and outfield, topping out at 81 mph in both respectively. Clocked in at 7.07 seconds for his 60 yard dash. Toolsy player.

2023 C Dylan Caudill (Steinbrenner HS, FL)
Currently stands at 5-foot-10, 160 pounds with a lean, athletic frame. Stood out offensively when he took a couple of strong rounds of batting practice, barreling it up multiple times from the left side. Quick hands and stays balanced throughout. Showed some pull side pop.
