Tonight, we conclude our Standouts breakdown with Part 2 of the 2023/2024 class breakdown:

2023 C Colton Wombles (Russell County HS, AL)
Auburn commit. Strong, compact frame standing 5-foot-9, 165 pounds. Had a notable standout weekend, making his impact felt everywhere. Plus defender behind the plate with above average actions and a plus arm, registering 1.85-1.92 seconds pop times on his throws down to second. Very quick transfer, ball gets to the bag quickly and with accuracy. Offensively, he makes loud, hard contact consistently and the ball really jumps off the bat with intent. Shows some present pull side pop and it can go a long way when he barrels it up. Had multiple extra base hits during game play which included a triple. Kicked it into the next gear from first to second on the triple. Also clocked in at 6.97 seconds for his 60 yard dash time. Strong follow, player that can impact the lineup in a number of ways.

2023 OF/LHP Wes Mendes (Jesuit HS, FL)
Currently stands at 6-foot, 155 pounds on a projectable, athletic frame. Strong overall weekend as well. Displayed above average bat speed, looks to drive the ball with intent from the right side. Registered a 92 mph exit velocity in the cages and consistently squared it up. Strong arm from the outfield, topping out at 86 mph on his throws from right field during defensive drills. Sat 83-85 mph with his fastball as well, showing a loose, quick arm with more to come from the left side. High two-way follow.

2024 IF/RHP Thomas Bly (Sickles HS, FL)
Big, strong frame at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds that immediately stands out. Still very young for his class. Took several impressive rounds of batting practice where he showed juice from the right side, creating loud, hard contact. Big gap-to-gap power potential, ball really jumps off the bat. 100+ mph exit velocity in the cages. Topped out at 77 mph on his throws from third which were accurate to the bag. Touched 78 mph with his fastball on the mound as well. Young power bat to follow.

2023 1B/LHP Jaden Hughes (Inspiration Academy, FL)
Tall, athletic frame standing at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds. Showed pull side pop with offensive potential from the left side. Strong hands through the zone, looks to utilize his strong lower half. There’s still more power to come, especially to the pull side. Bat with upside to follow going forward

2023 OF Bryce Andrews (Steinbrenner HS, FL)
Lean frame with room to still fill out. Showed above average bat speed from the left side with a feel for the barrel, driving the ball back up the middle and to the pull side. Look to see jumps in power as he continues to mature.

2023 MIF Thomas Coelho (Homeschooled, FL)
Currently stands at 5-foot-9, 155 pounds on an athletic frame with room to fill out. Quick hands, short load and works out in front offensively. Showed gap-to-gap potential.

2023 MIF/OF Fletch Hislop (St. Pete HS, FL)
Currently stands at 5-foot-9, 140 pounds on a lean frame. Displayed an above average arm on his throws from right field during defensive drills with accuracy and carry to the bag. Quick hands from the right side offensively. Also clocked in at 7.04 seconds for his 60 yard dash time.

2023 1B/LHP Ethan Lebron (Tarpon Springs HS, FL)
Strong, solid frame standing at 6-foot, 200 pounds. Created lots of loud, hard contact. Ball really jumped off the bat with intent. Raw bat speed. Registered multiple 90+ mph exit velocities in the cages.

2023 C Zach O’ Connell (Peru Central HS, NY)
Stood out offensively where he showed present bat speed from the right side, driving the ball back up the middle and to the left-center field gap. When he is on time he can square it up and use his stronger lower half for additional power.

2024 MIF Cameron Mallo (N/A, FL)
Lean, athletic frame. Simple approach from the right side offensively. Quick hands and stays direct to the ball. Still plenty of time to strengthen and mature, shows gap-to-gap potential.
