Top Tier Roos/Kangaroo Court Roos Class of 2021 Tryouts Standouts
This past weekend, the Top Tier Roos and Kangaroo Court Roos held their 2020 Team Tryouts which included over 100 players from the 2021-2024 classes. Players took batting practice at the Courthouse Performance Center on Friday night and then went through a pro-style workout on Saturday followed by games on Sunday at Carrollwood Day School.
There were numerous players in each class that stood out among our staff over the weekend so over the next several days we will be breaking down the standouts by grad class. Tonight, we take a look at the 2021 class:
LHP Sheldon Falor (Northeast HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-2, 175 pounds on a loose, projectable frame. Ball comes out of his hand easy. Mostly sat 84-86 mph with his fastball, generating swings and misses while mixing in a 69-70 mph curveball with depth. Projects to see jumps in velocity as he continues to fill out his frame. Arm to follow this upcoming spring, could see a jump relatively soon.
C/3B Logan O’Donnell (Lakeland Christian, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-4, 175 pounds on a tall, athletic frame with room to still fill out. Showed present bat speed from the right side during batting practice, projects to see a jump in power as he strengthens his frame. Also stood out defensively by registering 1.96-1.99 pop times from behind the plate, topping out at 83 mph from third base during I/O. Clocked in at 7.11 seconds for his 60 yard dash.
IF Andrew DiMisa (Berkeley Prep, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5-foot-11, 170 pounds on a lean, athletic frame. Stood out during batting practice on Friday night where he showed a balanced approach offensively, showing quick hands and driving the ball back up the middle. Shows some feel for the barrel and should see a jump in power as he continues to fill out.
3B/RBP James Hill (JW Mitchell HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 185 pounds. Stood out offensively where he showed above average bat speed from the right side during batting practice, producing multiple line drives into the gaps. This translated to game action where he had a hard hit line drive single back up the middle.
OF Brad Myers (Northeast HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5-foot-9, 170 pounds on a compact, athletic frame. Showed an aggressive approach during batting practice, looking to drive the ball with intent. Quick hands and makes loud, hard contact when he squares it up. At times can be out in front, but when he stays back and trusts his hands he can drive the ball.
OF Jaden Ross (Riverview HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot, 175 pounds on a lean, athletic frame. Offensively, he shows a simple approach from the right side of the plate with quick hands through the zone. Found the barrel consistently during batting practice. Topped out at 81 mph from the outfield, clocked in at 7.17 seconds for his 60 yard dash time.
C/3B Austin Affrunti (Clearwater Central Catholic, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5-foot-11, 190 pounds on a strong frame. Hits from a wide base and looks to jump on the ball out in front. When he is on time showed the ability to drive the ball back up the middle. Clocked in at 7.17 seconds for his 60 yard dash.
