South Florida Standouts Part 2

This past weekend multiple teams from the 14u age group came together in West Palm Beach, FL at FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches for the PGBA South Florida Challenge. Congratulations to Select MVP who defeated the Bigshot Bombers in extra innings to take home the 14u Championship.

2024 IF/RHP Riley Luft (Big Shot Bombers)
Continued his torrid hitting on the weekend, driving one deep to the left-center field wall for a triple. Consistently found the barrel all weekend. One of the top offensive players at the event. 

2023 1B/RHP Daniel Cuvet (Elite Squad)
Miami commit.Tall, physical frame at 6-3, 190 and creates loud, hard contact. Laced one into the left-center field gap for an RBI single. Ball really jumps off the bat. Came in for relief on the mound in the game, running his fastball up to 87 mph. Strong two-way follow.

2024 1B/LHP Johnny Montgomery (Bigshot Bombers)
Balanced and confident approach, looks to go gap-to-gap. Strong frame. Laced one into left-center field for a standup double. Followed it up by driving one into right-center field for a single. Also showed a loose, quick arm from the left side on the mound. Young two-way to follow.

2024 MIF Jeter Polledo (Select MVP)
Wake Forest commit. Hammered a ball over the left fielder’s head for an RBI double, then took 3rd on the throw in. Athletic frame, quick hands, and finds the barrel often. Above average arm. Strong follow moving forward. 

2024 C Efrain Morales (Select MVP)
Compact, athletic frame. Crushed one deep into the left-center field gap for an easy standup double. Above average bat speed with a feel for the barrel. Looks to jump on the fastball.

2024 OF Dariel Pirela (Next Level Prospects Blue)
Continued to make his presence felt throughout the weekend, this time defensively. Made a diving catch in center field to end the inning and save a run.

2024 C Mitchell Rodriguez (Next Level Prospects Blue)
Delivered the game-winning hit, driving one to right field for a walk-off single. Balanced approach from the left side. Shows above average defensive actions behind the plate as well. 

2024 OF Kody Morgan (Elite Squad)
Really stood out offensively throughout the weekend, driving in another run with a hard line drive RBI single to left field. Quick hands on a frame that projects for more power as he continues to mature and strengthen his frame.

2024 OF Jamarques Benton (Next Level Prospects Blue)
Displayed athletic, quick twitch actions. Showed quick hands through the zone from the left side, lacing a ball down the right field line for a single. Then stole 2nd on the next pitch.

2024 C Daniel James Aneja (Elite Squad) 
Strong, athletic frame. Balanced approach. Made hard, solid contact throughout the weekend. Middle of the order type hitter.
