Baumeister Tosses Complete Game Shutout as Bolles defeats Clay

Last night the Bolles Bulldogs visited the undefeated Clay Blue Devils in a tightly contested matchup that would ultimately end in a 1-0 victory for the visiting team, dealing the Blue Devils their first loss of the season. 2021 RHP Jackson Baumeister (Bolles HS, FL) was masterful in his outing, grinding it out through the first few frames before mowing down the opposing lineup the rest of the way.

The Florida State commit featured a fastball that sat 90-93 mph throughout the night, reaching back and touching 93 when he needed it in the later innings for a strikeout. Also mixed in an 81-82 mph changeup, a 73-74 mph curveball, and a 77-78 mph slider. He had to get out of few jams in the early innings, stranding base runners and getting the out when he needed it to the end the threat. The curveball really started working for Baumeister in the later innings and he found his groove. From the 4th inning to the final out, he went 1-2-3 as the Blue Devils lineup had no answers. He finished with 9 strikeouts, scattering three hits, and walking two.

The lone run for the Bulldogs on the night came off the bat of 2021 IF Gunner Boree. The Brown University commit unloaded on one and drove a ball over the left field wall for a solo home run which proved to be all they needed. 2021 OF Jaden Flowers also made a game-changing play from left field in the bottom of the 2nd as he gunned down a runner at the plate for the final out of the inning, keeping the Blue Devils off the scoreboard. The Tallahassee Community College commit also laced a double to right-center field during on of his at-bats.

For the Blue Devils, 2022 RHP Brandon Adams kept the Bulldogs lineup in check most of the night, his only mistake coming on the home run. The uncommitted righty finished with 5 strikeouts and 4 walks in four plus innings of work.

With the win the Bolles Bulldogs moved to 6-1 while the Clay Blue Devils fell to 6-1.

Players of the Game

2021 RHP Jackson Baumeister (Bolles HS, FL)
Florida State commit. Currently stands at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds and the frame really projects. Works out of an over the top windup, quick arm, and extension out in front. Repeats well. Featured a 90-93 mph fastball with life while mixing in an 81-82 mph changeup and a nasty 73-74 mph curveball that induced plenty of swings and misses. Also displayed a 77-78 mph slider. Really showed an above average feel for the curveball in the later innings, throwing it for strikes consistently while generating swings and misses. There’s more in the tank. Baumeister is a strong MLB draft follow this spring with lots of upside.

2021 IF Gunner Boree (Bolles HS, FL)
Brown University commit. Currently stands at 6-foot, 195 pounds on a physical frame. Drove in the lone run of the night when he crushed a ball over the left field wall for a home run. Ball really jumped off the bat and can create loud, hard contact when he squares it up. Uses his present strength to really drive the ball with intent.

2021 Jaden Flowers (Bolles HS, FL)
Tallahassee Community College commit. Currently stands at 6-foot-2, 215 pounds with a stronger lower half. Made a game-changing play defensively when he threw out a base runner at home from left field. The throw was on-lime and had carry. Also made an impact offensively when he laced a ball deep into right-center field for a double during one of his at-bats.
