South Florida Standouts Part 1
This past weekend multiple teams from the 14u age group came together in West Palm Beach, FL at FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches for the PGBA South Florida Challenge. Congratulations to Select MVP who defeated the Bigshot Bombers in extra innings to take home the 14u Championship.

2024 IF/RHP Riley Luft (Bigshot Bombers)
Had one of the most impressive weekends offensively, collecting multiple extra base hits and driving the ball all over the field. Above average bat speed with athleticism. Launched one over the center fielder’s head for a two-run double. Followed it up by lacing one into the gap and clearing the bases for an inside the park home run.
2023 IF Christian Rodriguez (Florida Hurricanes)
One of the more impressive players on the weekend. Takes a smart at-bat, shows a feel for the barrel with quick hands from the right side. Laced one over the right fielder’s head for a triple during his first at-bat only to follow it up by crushing a ball into the right-center field gap for another triple which brought in two runs. Strong follow.
2024 OF Dariel Pirela (Next Level Prospects Blue)
Lean frame with athletic, quick twitch actions. Whippy, above average bat speed through the zone. Took one the other way and drove it down the right field line for an RBI single. Followed it up in his next at-bat by lacing one back up the middle for a line drive single. Above average speed on the base paths.
2024 IF Jeter Polledo (Select MVP)
Wake Forest commit. Immediately stands out with his strong, athletic frame. Shows above average bat speed and pull side pop with an aggressive approach from the right side. Squares the ball up with intent. Crushed a ball over the left fielder’s head for a two-run double during one of his at-bats.
2024 IF EJ Burns (Florida Hurricanes)
Top of the lineup type hitter. Balanced approach, shows quick hands. Drove one through the left side of the infield for an RBI single and then followed it up by lacing one into left field for a line drive single. Takes a smart at-bat, works the count. Above average runner on the base paths.
2024 OF Kody Morgan (Elite Squad)
Long, lean athletic frame with more power to come as he fills out. Barreled one up and laced a ball deep into the left field corner for an RBI double during one of his at-bats. Above average bat speed, shows a confident approach.
2023 IF Blake Matthews (Elite Squad)
Long limbs with a lean frame and plenty of room to fill out. Creates some leverage. Drove one into the right-center field gap for a single during one of his at-bats. There’s more power to come.
2023 IF/RHP Andres Gonzalez (JR’s Prospects)
Above average bat speed with a confident approach out of the leadoff spot. Laced one into left field for a line drive single during one of his at-bats. Lays off the tough pitches.
2024 C/IF Ashton Jacomino (Miami Warriors)
Long, lean frame with more power to come. Showed quick hands and drove one down the left field line for an RBI double during one of his at-bats.
2024 IF Raymond Gonzalez (JR’s Prospects)
Tall frame with long levers and plenty of room to fill out. Drove one into right field for a single during one of his at-bats. Expect to see jumps in power as he strengthens his frame and matures.
2023 1B/RHP Johnny Riordan (Gamblers Baseball)
Shows some present strength and makes loud, hard contact when he squares it up. Hammered a ball deep into the left-center field gap for a two-run double during one of his at-bats.
2024 C Joshua Agriesti (Kachi Edge)
Strong lower half with some juice from the right side. Laced a ball down the left field line for an RBI double during one of his at-bats.
