Baumeister Ks 13, Bolles Moves to 17-3 with Victory Over Episcopal
In last night’s matchup the visiting Bolles Bulldogs took on the Episcopal Eagles in a rivalry game that featured two of the top teams from the north Florida area. The Bulldogs would end up victorious though as 2021 RHP Jackson Baumeister again dominated the opposing lineup all the way into the 6th inning and on their way to a 5-1 win.
Baumeister was ready from the jump as the Florida State commit went right after the Eagles lineup. Featured a fastball early on at 92-93 mph, but ticked up in the 2nd and 3rd innings, including ending the 2nd with a strikeout on a 95 mph fastball. Also mixed in an 82-83 mph changeup along with a 74-76 mph curveball that he threw for plenty of strikes, showing 12/6 break. In 5.1 innings of work Baumeister struck out 13, scattered three hits, walked two, and allowed only a lone run.
After Baumeister exited, 2024 RHP Chayce Kieck came in for relief and was not only able to get out of a jam he came into, but shut down the Eagles lineup in the final 1.2 innings, striking out two. The uncommitted righty sat 82-84 mph with his fastball, touching 85 along with a slurvy slider at 70-71 mph.
Offensively for the Bulldogs, 2021 OF Jackson Mayo (USF commit) and 2022 IF Tanner Zellem (Tennessee commit) lead the way as both players produced key run scoring hits. Mayo would go 2-for-5 with a double, RBI while Zellem went 1-for-2 with 2 RBIs. Uncommitted 2022 IF Luke Cashwell also chipped in with a double late in the game.
For the opposing side, 2021 LHP Dillion Haines took the loss for the Eagles, but allowed only a single run in his 5 innings of work while striking out 9. The Stetson commit featured a fastball that sat 89-91 mph, touching 92 along with a 75-77 mph curveball with hard break.
With the win the Bulldogs moved to 17-3 while the Episcopal Eagles fell to 13-4.
