Summer 2021 All-Uncommitted 1st Team (2022s)

By Kennedy Hayles and Mike Maerz

This past summer season, our scouting staff was able to see hundreds of players who stood and made an impact for their team. Today, we are releasing our Summer 2021 All-Uncommitted 1st Team for the 2022 class which features the top uncommitted players we covered during the summer season.

*Please note, these are players our scouting staff was able to see throughout the summer. We know that there are many other uncommitted players who made an impact for their team as well. As always, please feel free to reach out to let us know how you performed and how we can make sure we see you during the fall.

Congratulations to the following 2022s on their great performances throughout the summer season.

1st Team 2022 C

  • 2022 C Otto Kirchof (Power Baseball, FL)

Currently stands at 6-foot-2, 183 pounds on a tall, long frame that has started to become more physical recently. Still room to fill out. Kirchhof really shines defensively as he has strong wrists, sticks pitches, and consistently is in a quality, athletic position to receive the ball. Quick transfer and above average footwork allow him to make accurate and on line throws to the bag. Offensively, he looks to drive the ball out in front and the increased physicality has allowed him to drive the ball with more intent. Still more power to come. Strong follow as an above average defender with offensive potential.

1st Team 2022 1B

  • 2022 1B Simon Kohn (FTB Phillies, FL)

Kohn has all the makings of being a big time run producer at the next level with the ability to drive the ball not only deep into the gaps, but over the wall as well. Fast hands with a level to uphill path through the zone that finds the barrel for loud, hard hit balls. Present pull side juice as well. Strong follow.

1st Team 2022 MIF

  • 2022 MIF Edian Espinal (Eagles Baseball Club, FL)

Has the ability to deliver multiple base hits at the top of the order. Fast, loose hands from the left side that finds the barrel often. Works gap-to-gap and can drive the ball deep for extra base hits. Strong lower half and an above average defender up the middle.

  • 2022 MIF Danny Baez (Power Baseball, FL)

Currently standing at 6-foot-1 on an athletic frame, Baez is a great player to have at the top of the order. Quick hands with present feel for the barrel. Does a good job of staying balanced through his swing. His above average athleticism translates to him being a dangerous runner on the basepaths as well.

  • 2022 MIF Aidan Polaszek (Top Tier Roos, FL)

Standing at 6-foot-1 on an athletic frame that projects for additional power. Fast hands with present feel for the barrel. Polaszek has displayed the ability to hit the ball deep into the right-center and left-center gaps resulting in XBHs. Strong follow as he continues to add physicality.

1st Team 2022 3B

  • 2022 IF Christian Soto (FTB Tucci, FL)

Currently stands at 5-foot-11, 185 pounds with present strength throughout. Soto displays confident hands with clean actions up the middle and accurate throws across the diamond. Offensively, he works from a simple approach with above average bat speed and a feel for the barrel. Uses his lower half to generate additional power and looks to drive the ball to the pull side. Stays balanced throughout and has shown the ability to hit higher velocity in the past.

1st Team 2022 OF

  • 2022 OF Matthew Mateo (Power Baseball, FL)

Currently stands at 6-foot, 180 pounds with a strong lower half and present athleticism. Easy, fast hands from the left side with a level to uphill path through the zone that allows him to drive the ball with intent to the pull side translating to XBHs. Ball really jumps off the bat. Strong follow.

  • 2022 OF/LHP John Whitney (Ostingers Baseball Academy, FL)

Currently stands at 5-foot-10, 175 pounds on an athletic frame with a stronger lower half. Loose, quick hands from the left side that finds the barrel for loud, hard contact. Works gap-to-gap and can really drive the ball. On the mound he ran his fastball up to 90 mph on the mound with more to come and good feel for his offspeed stuff. He was also up to 91 mph from the outfield and clocked in at 6.60 seconds for his 60 yard dash time. Whitney has multiple above average tools and is one of the top two-way uncommitted follows for his class.

  • 2022 OF Joseph Tomonto (CBU, FL)

Defensively, he displays a strong arm with carry on his throws topping out at 92 mph. Offensively he shows a present feel for the barrel with fast hands through the zone. Drives the ball gap-to-gap with present pull side juice as well. High Follow.

1st Team 2022 SP

  • 2022 RHP Todd Kniebbe (Power Baseball, FL)

Currently stands at 6-foot-5, 220 pounds on an extra large frame with physicality. Mostly sits 88-91 mph, touching 92 and the ball really seems to jump out of his hand. Kniebbe also mixes in a 75-77 mph slider, showing depth and a 79-80 mph changeup. Very strong follow and should be on everyone’s radar.

  • 2022 RHP Jacob Crews (Canes Baseball, VA)

Big, strong frame standing at 6-foot-5, 240 pounds. Impending presence on the mound and creates downhill action. Fastball mostly sits in the 88-91 mph range, touching 92 with life. Also features a 77-82 mph changeup that really compliments the fastball. Able to generate lots of swings and misses with both pitches. Durable frame that will be able to log plenty of innings at the next level.

  • 2022 RHP Caden Kok (Ostingers Baseball Academy, FL)

Currently stands at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds with some room to still fill out. Quick arm, works out of a simple windup. Features a fastball that sits 86-88 mph with 2400+ RPMs, working down in the zone. Also mixes in an 81-82 mph changeup and a 76-77 mph slider with depth and late action at 2500+ RPMs. Strong arm to follow as we enter the Fall.

  • 2022 RHP Logan Plasencia (Florida Canes Prime, FL)

Standing at 6-foot-4, on a big strong frame that projects. Throws a heavy fastball and works down in the zone. Fastball sits 89-91 mph, touching 92 and 93 in the 2400-2500 RPM. Also mixes in a 67-68 mph curveball with depth. There’s more in the tank. High follow.

  • 2022 RHP Tyler Toro (Scorpions Giants Scout Team, FL)

Currently standing at 6-foot-1. Toro mostly sits 85-87 mph with his fastball, touching 88. Slider works at 76-77 mph with depth and he throws it for strikes consistently. Really can get into a groove and generate lots of swings and misses. The frame projects for an uptick in velocity as well. Strong follow.
