2022 Standouts
RHP Todd Kniebbe (University HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-5, 220 pounds on an extra large frame with physicality. Was one of the biggest performers arm wise on the weekend as he ran his fastball up to 92 mph in his bullpen on Friday night. Mostly sat 88-91 and the ball really seemed to jump out of his hand. Also mixed in a 75-77 mph slider, showing depth and a 79-80 mph changeup. Worked a clean and efficient inning during live game action, retiring all five batters he faced. Very strong follow and should be on everyone’s radar.
RHP Matthew Pacheco (Windermere HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5-foot-11, 175 on a lean frame with above average athleticism. Loose, quick arm that featured a fastball up to 89 mph. Mostly sat in the 85-88 mph range. Also mixed in a 72-73 mph slider with depth and a 77-78 mph changeup. Pounds the strike zone and generated multiple swings and misses during game action. Strong follow.
RHP/IF Carter Cooke (Oviedo HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot, 185 pounds on an athletic frame with some present strength throughout. Continues to trend upward and ran his fastball up to 90 mph during his bullpen on Friday night, mostly sitting 87-89 mph with life. Also featured a 69-70 mph curveball and a 73-84 mph changeup with some fade. Ball jumps out of his hand. Strong follow.
RHP Dewon Brazelton (The First Academy, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-7, 240 pounds on an extra large frame. Still some room to still fill out. Another arm that has continued to trend upward as he as ran his fastball up to 89 mph during his bullpen, mostly sitting 84-88 mph. Also mixed in a 70-71 mph curveball and a 75-76 mph changeup. Creates downhill action. More in the tank. Strong follow.
RHP Jace Trautner (JW Mitchell HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds on a tall frame with some present physicality. Will be a strong follow heading into the fall as he sat 86-87 mph with his fastball, touching 88. There’s more in there too. Also displayed quick hands and some present power to pull side offensively during batting practice.
C Gian Flores (Oviedo HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5-foot-8, 169 pounds on a compact frame with a strong lower half. Flores continued to stand out offensively, showing quick, strong hands through the zone and finding the barrel for consistently hard contact. Also displays present pull side pop. Produced multiple line drives back up the middle and deep into left field. Registered 2.05-2.11 seconds pop times from behind the plate.
MIF Greg Pettay (The First Academy, FL)
UCF commit. Currently stands at 5-foot-8, 165 pounds on a compact, athletic frame. Pettay continued to flash his smooth, athletic actions up the middle as an above average defender. Offensively, he works in rhythm and stood out during batting practice, driving the ball deep into the gaps. Really shows his ability to produce extra base hits. Above average athlete as well. Top of the lineup hitter who makes an impact in multiple ways throughout the game.
C Otto Kirchof (Lake Highland Prep, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-2, 183 pounds on a tall, long frame that has started to become more physical recently. Still room to fill out. Kirchhof really shines defensively as he has strong wrists, sticks pitches, and consistently is in a quality, athletic position to receive the ball. Quick transfer and above average footwork allow him to make accurate and on line throws to the bag. Offensively, he looks to drive the ball out in front and the increased physicality has allowed him to drive the ball with more intent. Still more power to come. Strong follow as an above average defender with offensive potential.
OF Matthew Mateo (Central Pointe Christian Academy, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot, 180 pounds with a strong lower half and present athleticism. Easy, fast hands from the left side with a level to uphill path through the zone that allows him to drive the ball with intent to the pull side. This translated to live game action when he crushed a ball deep over the right fielder’s head for an easy standup double during one of his at-bats. Ball really jumps off the bat.
RHP Pablo Torres (Central Pointe Christian Academy, FL)
Bethune-Cookman commit. Currently stands at 6-foot, 175 pounds on a lean, athletic frame. Fast arm that generated lots of swings and misses in his outing on the mound during live game action sitting 88-90, touching 91 and up to 2444 RPM with life. Also featured a 78-80 mph changeup with similar fastball arm speed. There’s more in the tank. Strong follow.
