CBU Summer 2024 Tryouts Standouts Part 3

From December January 5th-7th, CBU held their Summer 2024 Tryouts which took place at the 5-Plex Complex in Fort Myers, FL. Over the three-day stretch players went through a pro-style workout, additional batting practice, and live game action (with bullpens occurring earlier in the week) With close to 400 players in attendance ranging from the 2025-2028 classes, there was plenty of talent all over the field.

2025 C Jackson Geiger (Gulf Coast HS, FL)

USF commit. Currently stands at 6-foot-2, 205 pounds on a physical, athletic frame. Continued to stand out offensively from the left side of the plate as his strong, quick hands through the zone produced plenty of hard line drives during batting practice. Present pull side power as well. From behind the plate his throws are on-line and to the bag with carry, registering low 1.9 pop times. Left handed hitting backstop that makes an impact in multiple ways. 

2025 IF Jordan Yost (Sickles HS, FL)

Florida commit. Currently stands at 5-foot-11, 165 pounds on a frame that will continue to fill out and become more physical. Above average athleticism, consistently running in the 6.7s for his 60 yard dash time. Loose, easy working hands from the left side of the plate that allow him to drive the ball all over the field. Demonstrates the ability to go the other way on a breaking ball. Confident defender up the middle as well. Strong follow.

2025 OF/1B Aidan Ricker (St. Thomas Aquinas HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot, 175 pounds with a physical lower half. Simple approach from the left side of the plate and produced two strong rounds of batting practice, finding the barrel multiple times. Lots of hard line drives back up the middle and to the pull side. Ball jumps off the bat. Registered a top exit velocity of 96 mph. 

2025 1B/LHP Luis Sosa (Felix Valera HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5-foot-11, 190 pounds with present strength throughout. Stood out as a two-way prospect throughout the event. Offensively he put together two strong rounds of batting practice, flashing  some power while consistently driving the ball into the right-center field gap with plenty of carry. On the mound he worked in the mid 80s with his fastball with an above average curveball that kept hitters off-balance. 

2026 OF Cannon Murtagh (Jesuit HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5-foot-10, 165 pounds on a lean, athletic frame. Still room to fill out. Big arm from the outfield as his throws have plenty of carry with accuracy, consistently in the low 90s. Takes an efficient route to the ball and really gets behind his throws. Offensively the hands are quick and direct to the ball from the right side, driving the ball all over the field. Gap-to-gap hitter with still more power to come. Produces in game consistently. Strong follow this spring. 

2026 LHP Ben Burke (Jesuit HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5-foot-9, 150 pounds on a lean frame. Really knows how to pitch and is comfortable throwing any of his pitches at any part of the count. Pounds the strike zone and works efficiently. Featured an 81-84 mph fastball while mixing in a 73-74 mph slider with depth and a mid 70s changeup. Hides the ball well and works quickly. 

2026 RHP Ben O’Brien (Berkeley Prep, FL)

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 180 pounds with a stronger lower half. Was one of the top arms at the event, shining both during bullpens and game action. Loose, easy working arm with more in the tank. Gets plenty of swings and misses. Featured a fastball up to 89 mph, mostly sitting 85-88 with life. Mixed in a 69-71 mph curveball with 2350+ RPM and a 77-78 mph changeup. Strong follow.

2026 OF/INF Josh Hermann (Berkeley Prep, FL)

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5-foot-11, 160 pounds with present athleticism. Offensively he put together a very impressive batting practice round from both sides of the plate, showing consistency through the zone and power potential. The hands really work through the zone from both sides with a feel for the barrel. Above average arm from the outfield as well where he topped out at 90 mph on his throws. Very strong follow this spring. 

2026 1B/RHP Sebastian Prieto (Jesuit HS, FL) 

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot, 185 pounds and present physicality. Stood out during his batting practice rounds from the left side of the plate with present power and very quick hands through the zone. Really gets into his legs to drive the baseball. Lots of deep drives into the right, right-center field gap. 

2026 IF Isaiah Perez (Bloomingdale HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot, 195 pounds on a physical, athletic frame. Stood out all throughout the weekend offensively as he consistently squared the ball up. Fires his hands through the zone from the right side to find the barrel often that produced hard line drives deep into the gaps. Works from a wide base and swings with intent.

2026 OF Dillon Knight (Strawberry Crest HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-2, 185 pounds with present strength throughout. Had one of the best showings during batting practice as everything jumped off the bat from the right side. Produced multiple 90+ exit velocity readings with loud, hard contact. Some present juice as well. Strong follow.

2026 C Isaiah Fernandez (Westminster Academy, FL)

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5-foot-9, 175 pounds with a strong lower half. Stood out as one of the top catchers throughout the event. Offensively he roped multiple pitches back up the middle during his batting practice rounds. Simple approach to the ball and implements his lower half. Above average arm from behind the plate with a best pop time of 1.90 secs. Threw out a base runner during game action as well. Strong follow.

2026 OF/LHP Logan Galban (A3 Academy, FL) 

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 166 pounds on a frame that will continue to add more physicality.  During game action he barreled one up and crushed a ball deep into the right-center field gap for a standup triple from the left side of the plate. Stayed aggressive rounding the bases. Topped out at 85 mph from the outfield on his throws as well. Strong follow.

2027 RHP/LHP Tyler Shindo (IMG Academy, FL)

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5-foot-7, 130 pounds on a lean frame. The ambidextrous pitcher was dominant during his inning on the mound, sitting 72-75 mph with his fastball from both sides and filling up the zone. Showed a good mix of his off-speed pitches as well, keeping the batter guessing throughout the at-bat. Stays balanced and knows how to pitch.

2027 OF Alejandro Fernandez (Westminster Academy, FL)

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5-foot-6, 140 pounds on a compact, athletic frame. Stood out from the left side of the plate during game action when he laced an opposite field double into the left-center field gap. Smooth stroke with plenty of power to come. Strong follow.

2027 C Matthew Fernandez (Columbus HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5-foot-10, 175 pounds with a stronger lower half. From the right side of the plate he displayed above average bat speed, staying direct to the ball. This translated to game action when he barreled one up to right-center field for a base hit. Very solid defensive catcher as well.

2027 C Ethan Savinon (Jefferson HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot, 182 pounds with present physicality, most notably in the lower half. During batting practice the ball really exploded off the bat from the right side of the plate. Creates plenty of power with loud contact. Bat that is suited to drive in lots of runs. Strong follow.
