Longoria Tosses No-Hitter as Raiders Grab Season Opening Win

Last night the Middleton Tigers visited the Plant City Raiders in their season opener that would end up resulting in a dominant outing by 2023 RHP Adan Longoria who would toss a No-Hitter, striking out 16 batters and walking only one in their 8-0 victory. The uncommitted junior was masterful throughout the night, putting away the opposing lineup with ease and generating lots of swings and misses along the way.

Longoria got off to a hot start, striking out the side in back to back innings, then in the bottom of the 2nd he barreled a hit to left-center for an RBI double to open up the scoring for Plant City. The big righty painted the corners with his fastball sitting 87-90 topping out at 91 mph. He also mixed in a 78-81 mph changeup and had good feel for his curveball that sat 71-73 mph, showing 12/6 break. Threw all three pitches for strikes all throughout the night.

2022 C/RHP Colin Shultz (Plant City HS, FL) went on to widen the lead with a two-run moonshot over the left-center wall in the 3rd inning. 2024 RHP/OF Chase Mobley (Plant City HS, FL) would be another key contributor on offense as well, finishing off the scoring for the Raiders with another two-run bomb hit over the left-center wall to make the score 8-0.

That would be all the Raiders would need on offense for the night as Longoria continued to stay in a groove and kept the opposing team off the base paths.

With the win the Raiders move to 1-0 on the season while the Tigers fall to 0-1.
