2020 Power Baseball Tryouts Class of 2022 Standouts
This past weekend Power Baseball held their 2020 Summer Team Tryouts at the Turn 2 Sports and Performance Center along with Rollins College over a three day stretch which included bullpens Friday night, pro-style workout on Saturday, and games on Sunday. Power Baseball has quickly become not only one of the top organizations in Florida, but nationally as well. With over 280 players in attendance at the tryouts, there were dozens of players who stood out and made an impact throughout the weekend.

Tonight we begin with 15+ standouts from the 2022 Class:
RHP Kolten Smith
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds on a taller, very projectable frame. Was one of the top arms throughout the weekend, running his fastball up to 90 mph on Friday night. Very quick arm, mostly sat 88-89 mph, touching 90 with life. Ball really jumps out of his hand. Also mixed in an 80-81 mph changeup and a 75-76 mph curveball with depth. Generated plenty of swings and misses. Smith will be a strong follow moving forward and should make another jump fairly soon.
MIF Greg Pettay
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5-foot-7, 150 pounds on a compact, athletic frame. Shows smooth, athletic actions with confident hands defensively. Accurate throws, displays above average lateral quickness and is an above average defender. Quick hands, looks to drive the ball back up the middle offensively. Gamer.
C Riley Parker
UCF commit. Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 195 pounds on a physical frame. Shows strength throughout and creates loud, hard contact. Ball really jumps off the bat, drove multiple balls deep into the left-center field gap during batting practice. Utilizes his strong lower half to generate power.
1B/LHP Landon Moran
Florida commit. Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 165 pounds on a loose, projectable frame. During batting practice he showed present pull side pop, lacing the ball with intent deep into right field and right-center field gap. Consistently found the barrel from the left side. Still room to fill out, more power to come.
IF Connor Fosnow
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-2, 195 pounds on a physical, athletic frame. Strong lower half and looks noticeably more physical. During batting practice he squared the ball up for multiple hard hit line drives into the gaps. Quick hands, looks to drive the ball with intent out front. Topped out at 83 mph across the infield during defensive drills and showed confident hands. Good follow this spring, middle of the order type hitter.
OF/RHP Matthew Pacheco
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5-foot-11, 163 pounds on a loose, projectable frame with plenty of athleticism. During bullpens he displayed a quick arm, sitting 83-84 mph with his fastball while mixing in a 77-79 mph changeup with similar arm speed. Offensively, he showed above average bat speed from the right side and went gap-to-gap with multiple line drives during batting practice. Topped out at 83 mph from the outfield.
IF/RHP Dylan Kling
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot, 185 pounds on an athletic frame with some physicality. Sat 83-84 mph with his fastball that showed run along with a 73-74 mph curveball with hard break. Offensively, he took a couple strong rounds of batting practice. Physical lower half, looks to drive the ball with intent to the pull side. Strong hands through the zone. Strong two-way follow moving forward.
OF/LHP Xavier Lopez
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5-foot-11, 145 pounds on a loose, projectable frame. Worked a quick, clean inning during the game generating swings and misses along with ground ball outs. Sat 80-81 mph with his fastball while showing a feel for his curveball at 69-70 mph and a 72-73 mph changeup. Loose, easy arm with athleticism. Quick hands from the left side offensively. Topped out at 80 mph from the outfield. Athletic two-way who will continue to make overall jumps.
LHP Isaac Sewell
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-2, 235 pounds on a big, strong frame. Creates downhill action and works down in the zone. Mostly sat in the low 80s with his fastball while mixing in a 64-65 mph curveball that showed quality shape. Induced weak contact. More velocity to come as he continues to mature. Durable frame that should allow him to go deep into games.
IF Ben Barrett
Florida State commit. Currently stands at 6-foot-4, 190 pounds on a tall, athletic frame. Had a strong overall weekend offensively and can really barrel it up from the right side. During the game he laced one deep into the right-center field gap for a double. Expect to see a jump in gap-to-gap power as he fills out and strengthens his frame.
RHP Evan Koehler
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 185 pounds on an athletic, projectable frame. Mostly sat 80-81 mph with his fastball, touching 83 while mixing in a 66-67 mph curveball. Plenty more in the tank and arm works quick and easy. Expect to see an uptick in velocity this spring.
IF/RHP Ethan Schalte
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5-foot-8, 155 pounds on a lean, athletic frame. Two-way who stood out in multiple areas throughout the weekend. Defensively, he shows above average footwork and easily ranges to his right and left. Fields the ball under control and with confidence. Quick hands through the zone in the box and drove the ball back up the middle multiple times during batting practice. Up to 80 mph on the mound as well.
RHP/OF Nathan Stewart
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot, 155 pounds on a lean, athletic frame with room to fill out. Displayed a quick arm out of the high ¾ slot. Sat 82-83 mph with his fastball with rrun, touching 84 along with a 74-75 mph changeup. Topped out at 81 mph from the outfield.
OF/RHP Savian Loor
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5-foot-11, 170 pounds on a projectable frame. From the outfield he showed an above average arm, carry on his throws to home during defensive drills. Loose, quick hands in the box with some feel for the barrel. On the mound he was 80-81 mph while mixing in a 64-65 mph curveball. Showed a command of the zone when he stayed in line.
IF Jake Hayden
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5-foot-8, 150 pounds on a lean frame. Stood out offensively when he drove one back up the middle for a line drive single during the game. Quick hands from the left side and makes hard contact when on time.
C Alex Deguzman
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds on a big frame with present strength throughout. Strong lower half and generates power when in rhythm. During the game he lifted one into right-center field and instead of settling for a single, stayed aggressive and took second base on the throw in.
IF Drew Faurot
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 165 pounds on an athletic, projectable frame. There’s plenty more to come offensively and he shows easy bat speed from the right side with power potential. Above average runner who clocked in at 6.97 seconds for his 60 yard dash time. Good follow moving forward.
IF Danny Baez
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot, 170 pounds on an athletic frame with a stronger lower half. Smooth swing with quick hands from the left side. Present feel for the barrel and stays balanced, looking to drive the ball gap-to-gap, especially to right-center field.
RHP Tyson Datz
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-4, 165 pounds a tall, very projectable frame. Works out in front and mostly sat 80-81 mph with his fastball and a 67-68 mph curveball. There’s a lot more in the tank and as Datz continues to fill out expect to see several jumps in velocity. Projectable arm to follow.
