Mar 5 Apopka Stages Late Comeback to Take Down University 5-4

Last night the University Titans visited the Apopka Blue Darters in a tightly contested matchup that saw the home team secure a come-from behind victory late. 2023 RHP/OF Anthony Devita (Apopka HS, FL) contributed to the offense with a solid night at the plate, going 2-3 with 2 RBI and a run scored.

University got on the scoreboard first in the top of the second with 2022 LHP/OF Bryce Swindle delivering a 2 run homer over the left-center wall. Apopka would answer back quickly with a deep sac-fly, RBI by Anthony Devita and fielding error leading to a tie game heading to the bottom of the fourth.

The Titans would answer back in the top of the sixth with 2022 MIF Andrew Korkus driving in two runs off of an RBI single, giving University a 4-2 lead.

However, Apopka would fight their way back into the lead, scoring by way of an error followed by Anthony Devita lacing a ball to deep left-center field for an RBI triple, tying the game at 4-4. 2023 IF/RHP Donovan Murdock then secured the lead for Apopka with an RBI single driven into shallow center field to make it 5-4 which would prove to be the winning run.

With the win, the Blue Darters moved to 6-0 while the Titans fell to 2-3.

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-one on an athletic frame with room to fill out. Quick bat with above average feel for the barrel. During one of his at-bats he roped a ball to the left-center field wall for a RBI triple to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth. Was one of the key contributors for the Blue Darters as he finished the game 2-3 at the plate with two RBI.

2023 IF/RHP Donovan Murdock (Apopka HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Tall with a physical frame. In the bottom of the sixth he hit a line drive single to shallow-center field to bring in the game winning run for Apopka.

2022 LHP/OF Bryce Swindle (University HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Present athleticism. In the top of the second he hit a 2-run bomb from the right side to get the Titans on the scoreboard first. A good two-way prospect to follow as the season progresses.
