Mar 12 Rams Win Back and Forth Game in Extras 6-5

Last night the Lake Mary Rams visited the Lyman Greyhounds in a tightly contested matchup that saw the Rams secure the victory after a full 9 innings. 2024 LHP/1B Ryan Ashford (Lake Mary HS, FL) contributed to the Rams offense with a solid night at the going 2-4 at the plate with an RBI and closed out the game on the mound for Lake Mary as well.

2022 IF Griffin Periord got Lake Mary on the scoreboard first with an RBI double hit into left field. Then Ryan Ashford followed that up with another big double hit deep into center field to drive in a run making it 2-0 after the first. Lake Mary would tack on another run via an errant throw, followed up by an RBI single from 2023 OF Andrew Merchant to give the Rams a 4-0 lead going into the bottom of the fourth.

Lyman would rally back in the bottom of the fifth, started off by an RBI single from 2023 OF Nicholas Walsh. Then the Greyhounds would add on 3 more runs via an error in the infield, tying the game at 4-4.

In the top of the ninth Lake Mary scored 2 runs sparked by 2023 RHP/OF Brayden Kintner. The Greyhounds would answer back, scoring another run in the bottom of the ninth but ultimately it wouldn't be enough.

With the win, the Rams moved to 5-2 while the Greyhounds fell to 2-6.

2022 RHP Colin McCaw (Lake Mary HS, FL)
Mars Hill Commit. Pounded the zone and generated a lot of swings and misses. On the mound his FB sat 86-88, he also mixed in an effective CB at 72-74 mph. In 3 IP he finished with no runs allowed, 6 Ks, and 2 hits.

2024 LHP/1B Ryan Ashford (Lake Mary HS, FL)
Miami commit. Tall with a physical frame. Above average feel for the barrel with present power as well. Came in relief for the Rams in the bottom of the 7th and in 2.1 IP he had 5 Ks, 1 hit, and one run allowed. Very strong follow.

2023 RHP/OF Brayden Kintner (Lake Mary HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Showed great patience at the plate. He finished the game leading the Rams in hits, going 3-5 at the plate. Good uncommitted follow as the season progresses.
