2019 Wilson Premier Classic Part 1

Below are over 25 players who stood out over the first two days over a four day stretch in Arizona. It is important to note that most of this coverage took place at the Mariners complex with some additional coverage coming from the Padres complex as well. Also, the rankings listed below refer to the most current player rankings by class according to Perfect Game

Day 1

2022 SS James Triantos (Canes National)
North Carolina commit. Currently ranked No. 4 in Virginia, No. 28 Nationally. After a 10+ pitch at-bat, he found a way to drive a ball hard down the left field line for an easy standup double. Above average bat speed with a strong lower half.

2020 LHP Joseph Ingrassia (San Diego Show)
UC Santa Barbara commit. Currently ranked No. 61 in California, No. 412 Nationally. Sat 86-87 mph with his fastball, 73-74 mph curveball. Loose, quick arm and works down in the zone. Projectable frame with more in the tank. 

2021 MIF Marcelo Mayer (San Diego Show)
Southern California commit. Currently ranked No. 2 in California, No. 9 Nationally. Roped one down the right field line for a two-run triple in his first game of the day. Confident and balanced approach from the left side with quick hands on a strong 6-3, 185 pound frame. High upside offensively. 

2020 C Thomas Napolitano (BPA Baseball)
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 56 in Arizona. Got ahold of one and crushed a ball over the left-center field wall for a two-run home run. Physical frame with juice from the right side. Makes hard contact and will be a strong uncommitted follow offensively. 

2020 C Mike Schicker (Rake City)
Purdue commit. Currently ranked No. 48 in Illinois. Stood out offensively when he laced a ball into left field for a line drive single. Really liked his approach from the right side, looks to drive the ball with intent. Strength throughout.

2022 MIF David Mershon (Canes National)
Mississippi State commit. Currently ranked No. 6 in South Carolina, No. 152 Nationally. Prototypical leadoff batter, takes smart at-bats. During the game he flicked his wrists on a fastball and drove one over the right fielder’s head for an RBI triple. Mershon then took advantage on the base path, ran home and and dove in to home plate to score while getting hit on the throw in. Plays with high energy. 

2022 RHP Jake Romero (BPA Baseball)
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 41 in California, No. 373 Nationally. Was one of the top 2022 arms in attendance as he dealt through his time on the mound. Sat 85-89 mph, touching 90 with his fastball that showed life while mixing in a hard 74-75 mph slider with depth, and a 69-70 mph curveball. Big, strong frame and creates downhill action. 

2021 Beau Ankeney (NorthEast Baseball)
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 17 in Arizona. Ankeney has strength throughout and can really drive the baseball. He smoked one down the left field line for a single during gameplay, ball really jumps off the bat. Big, physical frame at 6-3, 225. 

2022 OF Braydon Wooldridge (BPA Baseball)
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 76 in California. During gameplay he laced a ball over the first baseman's head for a single and shows a balanced approach with present bat speed from the left side. Athletic frame and a feel with the barrel.

2020 C Caleb Hawkins (Knights National)
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 90 in Tennessee. Launched one over the left field wall for a two-run home run. Creates loud, hard contact with above average bat speed. Physical frame with a strong lower half. 

2020 LHP Ethan Hailey (Knights National)
Walters State CC commit. Currently ranked No. 91 in Tennessee. Was a bulldog on the mound where he consistently competed and challenged hitters, inducing plenty of weak contact and off balanced swings and misses. Fastball sat 83-85 mph with run, and stayed low and away while mixing in a 65-67 mph curveball w/ depth along with a 74-75 mph change up. 

2021 1B/OF Corey Jarrell (Northwest Baseball)
Washington commit. Currently ranked No. 12 in Washington. The Washington commit shows quick hands from the left side with more power to come as he fills out. During gameplay he laced one back up the middle for an RBI single. 

2020 OF Jared Dickey (Knights National)
Tennessee commit. Currently ranked No. 28 in Tennessee. Shows an aggressive approach at the plate with above average bat speed from the left side. Drove one the other way off a 90 mph fastball during the game for a single.

Day 2

2020 OF Dom Johnson (Canes National)
Oklahoma State commit. Currently ranked No. 5 in Oklahoma, No. 92 Nationally. The athletic outfielder shows easy bat speed with quick hands which was shown when he got things going right away out of the leadoff spot by scorching a ball over the left fielder’s head for a leadoff ground rule double. Plus speed, above average defender. 

2020 RHP Wyatt Hudepohl (Canes National)
Kentucky commit. Currently ranked No. 2 in Ohio, No. 230 Nationally. Tall, physical frame at 6-3, 200 with a simple, repeatable delivery. Sat 90-91 mph, touched 92 several times with his fastball along with a 74-76 mph curveball. Works down in the zone and throws a heavy fastball. . 

2020 1B/LHP Caden Grice (Canes National)
Clemson commit. Currently ranked No. 8 in South Carolina, No. 246 Nationally. The Clemson commit shows gap-to-gap power from the left side and the ball really jumps off the bat. During the game he crushed a ball deep into the left-center field gap for a triple. Also in the low 90s on the bump. Impressive two-way with a big frame. 

2020 LHP Drew Dowd (Canes National)
Stanford commit. Currently ranked No. 23 in California, No. 141 Nationally. Came in for relief and displayed a loose, quick arm with more to come. Mostly sat 88-91 mph, touching 92 with his fastball while mixing in a 75-78 mph 12/6 curveball with depth, throwing it for strikes. High follow.

2020 C/3B Brock Wilken (Ostingers)
Wake Forest commit. Currently ranked No. 33 in Florida, No. 167 Nationally. Athletic, physical frame and the ball explodes off his bat with big power potential to anywhere on the field. Smoked a ball over the center fielder’s head for a two-run triple. Big time bat to follow.

2023 OF Dean West (San Diego Show)
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 3 in California, No. 24 Nationally. Started off the game by lacing a ball into right field, then stole 2nd and continued to create pressure on the base paths until he scored. Above average bat speed from the left side with quick twitch athleticism. Ropes one into right field for a single to lead off the following inning. In his 3rd at-bat of the game, he drove a ball into the left-center field gap for an easy standup double. Extremely high follow, game comes natural. 

2022 OF Drake Harman (Ostinger Baseball Academy)
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 118 in Florida. Lean frame with quick hands and athleticism. Displays a feel for the barrel from the left side which showed in the game when he lead things off by lacing a ball down the right field line for a standup double. 

2020 IF Sam Bianco (BPA Baseball)
Louisiana-Lafayette commit. Currently ranked No. 9 in Mississippi, No. 469 Nationally. Strong hands through the zone with present bat speed from the left side. Took one the other way and drove it down the left field line for an RBI single.Above average runner as well. 

2022 IF Ethan Petry (Ostinger Baseball Academy)
South Florida commit. Currently ranked Currently ranked No. 130 in Florida. After homering on the first day, he laced one over the center fielder’s head for a triple. Creates loud, hard contact. Big, strong frame at 6-3, 190.

2022 OF Corbin Ybarra (NorCal Baseball)
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 58 in California, No. 487 Nationally. Really liked his approach, looks to drive the ball with intent and was aggressive out of the box. Drove a ball into the right-center field gap for a two-run double. Long, lean 6-4, 190 frame with more power to come.

2022 LHP Nic Bronzini (NorCal Baseball)
Arizona commit. Currently ranked No. 24 in California, No. 188 Nationally. Came in for relief and struck out one in .2 IP. Sat 81-83 mph fastball with life, mixing in a 69-70 mph curveball with depth. Big frame at 6-3, 220. High ceiling. 

2021 MIF Marcelo Mayer (San Diego Show)
Southern California commit. Currently ranked No. 2 in California, No. 9 Nationally. Continued to stand out offensively, laced a ball deep into the left-center field gap for an RBI double in his first at-bat. Shows a feel for the barrel with easy bat speed from the left side. Athletic frame with a strong lower half.

2020 IF Drew Stubbs (Florida Hurricanes)
Texas Tech commit. Currently ranked No. 188 in Florida. Physical, athletic frame at 6-3, 200. Strong hands through the zone, stays balanced throughout and creates hard contact.
