IMG Academy Scout/Pro Day Standouts
On October 2nd, IMG Academy held their annual Scout/Pro Day for all their players from the 2020-2023 classes. Below are several 2020s who stood out not only from the National team, but from the Uncommitted 2020 team and a couple of Post Grads as well:
Post Grad RHP Ahmad Harajli
Michigan commit. Big, strong frame standing at 6-foot-5, 230 pounds. The ball really jumps out of his hand with plenty of run. Sat 91-94 mph with his fastball, hitting 93 and 94 multiple times. Also mixed in a 74-76 mph curveball with hard break. At times he was a little inconsistent finding the zone, but with improved control and command there is big potential. Strong arm to follow.
2020 OF Thurman Thomas III
Uncommitted. Physical, athletic frame standing at 5-foot-11, 200 pounds with a strong lower half. Stood out offensively where he took a couple of loud rounds of batting practice, driving the ball all over the field with hard contact deep into the gaps. Above average bat speed with a feel for the barrel from the right side, really utilizes his lower half for power. Will be able to drive in multiple runs at the next level.
2020 IF Jordan Miller
Georgia State commit. Long, athletic frame at 6-3, 190 with a strong lower half. Offensively he showed above average bat speed with gap-to-gap power during batting practice. When he is on time and in rhythm, he can really drive the ball deep into the gaps. Defensively he shows confident hands with accurate throws to the bag.
2020 RHP Aaron Combs
Coastal Carolina commit. Long, lean and projectable frame standing at 6-foot-3, 160 pounds. Throws from a low ¾ slot and creates some deception in his delivery. Fastball mostly sat 89-91 mph with tailing action and late life while mixing in a hard slider with late life at 81-82 mph. There more velocity to come as he fills out his frame.
2020 IF Kevin Karstetter
Florida Atlantic commit. Tall, physical frame at 6-3, 210. Starts from a wide base with above average bat speed through the zone. At times he can cut himself off, but when he stays direct to the ball it really jumps off the bat. Gap-to-gap power. Fields the ball under control and is light on his feet.
2020 IF Mac Horvath
North Carolina commit. Athletic, physical 6-foot-3, 195 pound frame. Offensively he shows quick hands with strength throughout, making loud, hard contact on the ball. Drove several balls deep into the gaps during BP. Defensively he showed easy, athletic actions with an above average arm across the diamond. Takes efficient angles to the ball.
2020 OF Billy Underwood
Coastal Carolina commit. Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 180 pounds with athleticism. Takes aggressive routes to the ball in the outfield and looks to get behind his throws. Offensively, he starts from a high hand set and open stance. Above average bat speed through the zone and really works in rhythm. Laced several balls deep into the right-center field gaps.
Post Grad OF/RHP Andrew Bergeron
Georgetown commit. Currently stands at 6-foot-3, 195 pounds with a long, athletic frame. Showed an above average arm with carry from the outfield during I/O. Offensively, he seems to have a more confident approach and stays balanced throughout his swing. Laced several balls deep into left and the left-center field gap during batting practice. Also hopped on the mound and was up to 92.
2020 OF Quinn Blackman
Uncommitted. Has an athletic frame with a stronger lower half standing at 5-foot-11, 195 pounds.Consistently found the barrel during batting practice, lacing the ball into the left-center field gap while showing pull side pop as well.
