Bowen’s Walk-Off Triple Wins it for Winter Haven in Extras

Last night the Plant City Raiders visited the Winter Haven Blue Devils in a regional quarterfinal matchup that would need extra innings to decide the winner. With a runner on first base in the bottom of the 8th, 2022 OF Dylan Bowen (Winter Haven HS, FL) stepped to the plate and delivered a line drive that was ripped into the right-center field gap for a triple which scored the runner, winning it 3-2 for the home Blue Devils and sending them to the next round.

Bowen was also responsible for tying the game up in the bottom of the 5th when he drove a ball over the center field wall for a solo home run, making it 2-2. The uncommitted outfielder finished the night 3-for-3 with 2 RBIs and 1 run scored. 2022 C Mason Jantomaso (Winter Haven HS, FL) drove in the other run for the Blue Devils with a sacrifice fly to deep left field early in the game. 2021 LHP Mark Jarrett would earn the win on the mound, going 3.2 innings in relief while striking out seven and allowing only one hit.

For the Raiders, 2022 MIF Anthony Grasso went 1-for-2 on the night which included a two-run home run that gave them an early lead. 2023 RHP Adan Longoria got the start for the Raiders, firing 5.2 strong innings before being lifted in the 6th. He would finish with three strikeouts while allowing two runs on three hits.

With the victory, the Blue Devils advance to next week to the Regional semi final.

Top Performers

2022 OF Dylan Bowen (Winter Haven HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Athletic frame that continues to become more physical, fill out. Played hero on the night by driving in the game winning run in extra innings on a line drive that was roped into deep right-center field. Also drove a ball over the center field wall for a solo home run in an earlier at-bat. Fast hands, showing lots of confidence in the box with present power. Ball really jumps off the bat when it’s squared up and anything hit into the gap is most likely an extra base hit. Plus runner who continues to make himself felt on the base paths, keeping both the pitcher and catcher honest. Bowen will continue to make jumps in his overall game and is a very strong uncommitted 2022 follow heading into the summer.

2022 C Mason Jantomaso (Winter Haven HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Durable frame for behind the plate, strong lower half. Displayed above average bat speed from the left side with some feel for the barrel, creating loud, hard contact. Drove a ball to deep left field for a sac fly during one of his at-bats. Strong arm with accuracy behind the plate, shows the ability to keep the ball in front of him on pitches in the dirt.

2022 MIF Anthony Grasso (Plant City HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Lean, athletic frame with some room to still fill out. Quick hands offensively, direct path to the ball which finds the barrel for hard contact. During one of his at-bats he crushed a ball way over the left field wall for a two-run home run to give them an early lead. Middle infielder to follow with some present juice.

2023 RHP Adan Longoria (Plant City HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Tall, projectable frame that will continue to add physicality. Works from a out of the stretch wind up and a quicker pace. Looks to throw the first pitch strike with the fastball. Gave up a pair of runs but was able to scatter three hits over 5.2 innings of work. Starting to show a better feel for the slider, as he becomes more consistent with it, it has the chance to be an above average pitch, complimenting his fastball well. Lots of upside, strong follow.
