University of Tampa Scout Day Standouts

University of Tampa Scout Day Standouts

This past Wednesday, players from the University of Tampa team went through a pro-style workout which consisted of the 60 yard dash, batting practice, and infield/outfield followed by a game.

Below are 10+ standouts from the workout portion as well as the game with a brief report on each:

IF Drew Ehrhard
Currently stands at 5-foot-11, 185 pounds on an athletic with quick hands offensively. Took some impressive rounds of batting practice, showing gap to gap power and consistently squaring it up for hard hit line drives into the gaps. Really works in rhythm and displays a balanced approach and shows a present feel for the barrel.

RHP Jordan Leasure
Currently stands at 6-foot-2, 175 pounds on a projectable, athletic frame. Loose, quick arm. Was efficient in his inning of work, running his fastball up to 93 mph multiple times. Mostly 91-92 while mixing in an 81-82 mph slider. Shows athleticism as well, more velo to come and he fills out his frame. Strong follow.

C Luis Medina
Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 200 pounds on an athletic frame with a stronger lower half. Had a strong few rounds of batting practice where he consistently found the barrel for multiple hard hit line drives. Showed pull side power as well. Confident hitter who will drive in multiple runs in the middle of the lineup.

RHP Jacinto Arredondo
Currently stands at 5-foot-9, 170 pounds with a very quick arm. Struck out a couple in his inning of work, creating plenty of timing/rhythm issues with his delivery. Mostly sat 92-93 mph with his fastball with life while mixing in a hard slider at 80-81 mph. Reliever type who can come out and get outs while creating an uncomfortable at-bat for the hitter.

1B Alec Aleywine
Big frame standing at 6-foot-2, 250 pounds with a physical lower half. Really moves well for his size and shows good footwork around the bag at first. Displayed big power to the pull side, driving several way over the right field wall during batting practice. Utilizes his strong lower half from the left side and can really drive the ball when he squares it up.

RHP Nik Constantakos
Currently stands at 6-foot, 185 pounds. Works with an up-tempo pace and looks to jump on the batter. Above average hand speed. Mostly sat 89-91 mph with his fastball touching 92 along with a 78-80 mph changeup and 75-76 mph curveball with depth. Struck out two in his inning of work.

OF Jose Cadenas
Lean frame standing at 5-foot-8, 155 pounds. Quick hands offensively, showed the ability to go the other way during batting practice. Above average runner who creates pressure on the base paths, being able to steal multiple bases during an at-bat. Shows range in the outfield, can go get the ball in the gaps.

RHP Brayden Nelson
Currently stands at 6-foot-4, 220 pounds on a tall, strong frame. A little bit of a funky arm action, but was able to run his fastball up to 94 mph, while mostly sitting 91-93. Also mixed in an 85-86 mph changeup.

C Josh Rulli
Currently stands at 5-foot-9, 200 pounds on a strong frame with a physical lower half. Showed above average bat speed, going gap to gap during batting practice. Strong hands through the zone. Makes, loud, hard contact.

RHP Alex Passarella
Currently stands at 6-foot-2, 230 pounds. Creates some downhill action. Mostly used his fastball in his inning of work, sitting 90-92 mph along with a 79-80 mph changeup that showed fade.

LHP Brandon Knarr
Currently stands at 5-foot-10, 215 pounds on a thicker frame with a strong lower half. Really filled up the strike zone with multiple swings and misses. Fastball was mostly 88-89 mph, touching 90 while mixing in a 75-76 mph curveball with tighter spin.
