UCF/Stetson Scout Day Standouts

Last week, Stetson University and the University of Central Florida held a joint scout day at John Euliano Park on the University of Central Florida campus. Each team went through a pro-style workout which consisted of the 60 yard dash, batting practice, and infield/outfield followed by a game.

Below are 10+ standouts from the workout portion as well as the game with a brief report on each: 

RHP Jack Sinclair (UCF)
Tall, long frame standing at 6-foot-4, 180 pounds. Was mostly 90-93 mph, touching 94 while mixing in an 81-82 mph changeup and a 77-79 mph slider. Struck out multiple batters throughout his time on the mound. Plenty of room to still fill out and figures to see another uptick in velocity as he strengthens his frame.

IF Thomas Josten (UCF)
Put on one of the more impressive performances offensively throughout the day. During batting practice he showed an aggressive approach from the left side with above average bat speed, consistently squaring the ball up with multiple hard hit line drives into the right-center field gap. Shows present pull side pop, ball really jumps off the bat. During the game he roped a ball into the right-center field gap for a base hit, then quickly stole second.

RHP Jeff Hakanson (UCF) 
Cruised through his first inning of relief, where he came in pumping fastballs, sitting 91-93 mph. Induced multiple swings and misses on the fastball which had late life. Ball jumps out of his hand. Gets extension out in front and showed a command of the zone. Strong follow. 

 LHP Daniel Paret (Stetson)
Big, strong frame standing at 6-foot-3, 210 pounds. Showed a quick arm and the ball jumped on the batter, mostly sitting at 90-92 mph with his fastball. Mixed in an 80-82 mph changeup which showed some sink along with an above average curveball with tighter spin at 74-76 mph. 

C/1B Connor Allen (UCF)
Launched multiple balls over the right field wall during batting practice, showing big power from the pull side. Ball really jumps off the bat from the left side. 

IF Nick Romano (UCF) 
Big, physical frame and creates loud, hard contact. Consistently squared it up during batting practice and drove the ball deep into the gaps. 

IF Dalton Wingo (UCF) 
Physical frame with a strong lower half. Put on a power display during batting practice, driving multiple balls over the left field wall, showing present pull side pop. 

OF Noah Dickerson (Stetson) 
Showed quick hands from the left side during batting practice, driving a couple over the right field wall. Stays balanced throughout, drove the ball the other way into the left-center gap as well during a couple rounds. 

IF Eric Foggo (Stetson) 
Big, strong frame at 6-foot-5, 260 pounds. Crushed a ball over the left field wall during batting practice. Creates loud, hard contact and the ball really jumps off the bat. 

IF AJ Orrico (Stetson) 
Showed loose, quick hands offensively and went gap-to-gap during batting practice. Above average runner with athletic, quick twitch actions. 

OF Andrew MacNeil (Stetson) 
Laced a ball deep into the right-center field gap for a double during the game. Quick hands from the left side, above average runner. 

IF Mark Townsend (Stetson)
Launched a no-doubter two-run home run way over the right field wall during the game. Was gone the second it left the bat, shows present pull side power.

C Joshua Crouch (UCF)
Physical frame with a strong lower half. Above average bat speed from the right side with strong hands through the zone. Laced one into left field for a line drive single during the game. 

C Ben McCabe (UCF) 
Showed above average defensive actions and was as wall behind the plate. Above average arm, threw out multiple runners with a strong, accurate throw to the bag.
