The 2019 WWBA World Championship Day 5 Recap

The 2019 WWBA World Championship Day 5 Recap

The 2019 WWBA Championship began in Jupiter, Florida on October 10th and featured 95 of the top teams nationwide for one of the most heavily scouted baseball events in the country. Our media and scout team was out and about at multiple games collecting pitcher velocities, video, big hits, taking notes, and more throughout the entire event.

Below is a recap of standouts for the final day (October 14th) of action which was covered by the members of our team. A special congratulations as well to the Florida Burn who captured their second Jupiter title in as many years:

2020 C Mac Guscette (Florida Burn)
Guscette would eventually take home MVP honors as the Florida commit shows easy bat speed, consistently finding the barrel and squaring it up from the right side. Laced one off the left-center field wall for an RBI double in the championship game to go along with a hard hit line drive single during the semi-finals. High follow.

2021 IF Tommy White (Florida Burn)
The North Carolina State commit really had a standout day offensively, driving the ball all over for multiple base hits and RBIs. This included going 1-for-2 in the semi-finals along with going 2-for-2 in the championship game to go along with three runs scored and three RBIs. White has strength throughout and creates hard contact with above average bat speed from the right side. Strong follow.

2020 IF Vince Smith (Florida Burn)
Delivered in a huge way when he crushed a ball over the left field wall for a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth to win it, sending his team to the championship came. Also laced a ball into left-center field for a single during the championship game. Quick hands and stays balanced throughout his swing, looking to go gap-to-gap.  Florida State commit.

2021 C Joe Mack (East Cobb Astros/Padres Scout Team)
The Clemson commit was mentioned as an offensive standout from Day 4 and continued to make his presence felt by going 3-for-3 in the semi-finals. He also made an unbelievable defensive play behind the plate, catching a pop up right against the fence for a big out.

2020 LHP Andrew Armstrong (East Cobb Astros/Padres Scout Team)
While Armstrong may have taken the hard luck loss, he was mostly dominant throughout his outing, generating plenty of swings and misses on all three of his pitches on his way to racking up 10 strikeouts in 8.1 innings. The Florida State commit mostly sat 85-87 mph with his fastball while mixing in a 77-78 mph changeup with fade and 69-70 mph curveball with depth. Very projectable at 6-foot-2, 150 pounds that will see jumps in velocity as he strengthens his frame. Loose, easy working arm.

2020 OF Dylan Crews (Orlando Scorpions)
The Louisiana State commit continued to show why he is one of the top bats in his class as he went 2-for-4 during the semi-finals, showcasing his plus bat speed and present feel for the barrel. Ball really jumps off the bat and there’s true confidence with a look to drive the ball with intent in the box. Strong follow.

2020 OF Jake DeLeo (Dirtbags)
The Georgia Tech commit started the championship game off with a bang as he drove a ball deep over the left field wall for a no-doubter solo home run in the top of the 1st. Finished the day going 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Above average bat speed with a balanced approach, utilizes his lower half.

2020 C Pierce Chambers (Florida Burn)
The Texas Christian commit continued to keep the offense rolling during the championship game, driving one through the left side of the infield for a two-run single during the championship game. Has become noticeably more physical, especially in the lower half.

2020 IF Santino Cervone (Florida Burn)
The uncommitted infielder delivered a clutch hit during the semi-finals when he laced a ball back up the middle for an RBI single to tie it up 1-1 late in the game. Cervone shows above average bat speed with strong hands through the zone from the right side. Strong arm as well.
