The 2019 WWBA World Championship '21/'22 Standouts
While much of Jupiter was dominated by the top 2020s from around the country, several players from the 2021 and 2022 classes made themselves known as well by making an impact at one of the most competitive events nationwide.
Below are several players from the 2021 and 2022 class who will be strong follows moving forward and were standouts throughout the event:
2022 RHP Dylan Lesko (East Cobb Astros/Padres Scout Team)
Uncommitted. The top ranked 2022 in the country was electric in relief work, striking out five in two innings while running his fastball up to 94. Mostly sat 91-94 mph with life, mixing in a sharp slider at 76-77 mph, and a 81-82 mph changeup. Ball jumps out of his hand. Lesko will continue to be a very strong follow moving forward with big upside.
2021 1B/LHP Jac Caglianone Jr. (FTB Tucci)
Florida commit. The high ceiling two-way made his presence felt in multiple ways throughout the event, both on the mound and offensively. Sat 88-89 fastball, touching 90 while mixing in a 78-79 mph changeup with sink, and a 72-73 mph curveball with depth in his two innings of work. Loose, easy working arm. Big projection with his frame. Also continued to show why he is one of the top hitters in his class as he hammered a ball over the right fielder’s head for a two-run double that hit the top of the fence during one of his at-bats. Easy left handed swing with power. Strong follow.
2021 C Joe Mack (East Cobb Astros/Padres Scout Team)
The Clemson commit shows easy bat speed from the left side, ball really jumps off the bat. Athletic frame with quick hands. Scorched one past the first basemen for a single during one of his at-bats and then continued to make his presence felt by going 3-for-3 in the semi-finals. Made an unbelievable defensive play behind the plate, catching a pop up right against the fence for a big out as well. Strong follow.
2021 RHP Cameron Clines (FTB/Giants Scout Team)
The uncommitted righty came in for relief using mostly all fastballs, sitting 88-91 mph with run, touching 92. Also mixed in a 73-74 mph curveball. He has a 6-3, 200 frame with a stronger lower half. Quick arm and stays balanced throughout his delivery. Has made a nice jump in velocity and is one of the top uncommitted arms left in the state.
2021 IF Tommy White (Florida Burn)
The North Carolina State commit really had a standout day offensively, driving the ball all over for multiple base hits and RBIs. This included going 1-for-2 in the semi-finals along with going 2-for-2 in the championship game to go along with three runs scored and three RBIs. White has strength throughout and creates hard contact with above average bat speed from the right side. Strong follow.
2021 OF/LHP Matthew Prevesk (FTB Tucci)
The Florida commit continually has shown a feel for the barrel with quick hands and a confident approach from the left side. Sat back on a pitch during one of his at-bats and took it the other way by lacing a ball down the left field line for an easy standup double.
