Miller’s Bat, Strong Pitching Leads the Mustangs to a 6-0 Victory Over East Lake
It was a breezy night of baseball in Tarpon Springs, Florida as the East Lake Eagles hosted the JW Mitchell Mustangs in a rivalry game. 2022 RHP Nathan Norwood of East Lake faced 2021 uncommitted senior James Hill.
The Mustangs wanted to get on the board early, as 2023 Aidan Miller, who is committed to Arkansas, started off the game with a leadoff triple down the left field line. Miller would later score on a wild pitch, which gave the Mustangs an early 1-0 lead.
In the Top of the 4th, Mitchell added 1 more run on a pair of errors and walks, which gave them a 2-0 lead. 2022 Jace Trautner was strong in relief, throwing 3 scoreless innings only allowing 2 hits and a strikeout.
The Mustangs were not done quite yet. In the top of the 5th,a lead off single from 2021 Maguire Anderson, BYU football recruit, brought up Aidan Miller. Miller knocked a missile over the right field fence to extend the lead to 4-0. East Lake’s bats were quiet on strong pitching throughout the night, managing 2 base hits throughout 7 innings of work. The Mustangs would score 2 in the 7th from an RBI single from 2021 Ezra Brennan, as well as Brennan scoring on a pickle play between 1st and 2nd.
The final score was 6-0, with Jace Trautner getting the win.

Promising 6'2 200 ILB player who showed good athleticism on the field.2 for 3 at the plate with a triple and a 2-Run Home Run. Effortless pop at the plate and featured a strong arm across the diamond. Fast hands and good jump off the barrel. Very high ceiling as he continues to develop. 2021 RHP James Hill (JW Mitchell)
Made quick work on the mound yesterday, throwing 17 pitches with a FB that had good life. Showed his best sliders when he fully extends and focuses downhill. Uncommitted arm that will be a strong follow this season.
2022 C/RHP Jace Trautner (JW Mitchell)
Good Life to the FB. Had some late tail and good bite to the slider. Mechanics looked smooth and composure was impressive. Also showed nice athleticism on the field and good plate discipline. Good Follow
2022 RHP Nathan Norwood (East Lake)
Norwood had a solid outing last night, throwing 4 strong innings and a pair of strikeouts. Lots of room to fill along with a very projectable frame. FB had life and showed some tailing action. Had some funk in his mechanics. Will be a strong follow this season.
