CBU Summer 2024 Tryouts Standouts Part 1

From December January 5th-7th, CBU held their Summer 2024 Tryouts which took place at the 5-Plex Complex in Fort Myers, FL. Over the three-day stretch players went through a pro-style workout, additional batting practice, and live game action (with bullpens occurring earlier in the week) With close to 400 players in attendance ranging from the 2025-2028 classes, there was plenty of talent all over the field.

2025 C Andrew Prieto (Killian HS, FL)

Uncommitted, currently standing at 6-foot, 175 pounds with present physicality. Impressed both during the pro-style workout and game action. During gameplay he crushed a ball deep over the left-center field wall for a two-run no-doubter home run. Swings with intent and displayed gap-to-gap power during batting practice as well. Above average arm from behind the plate with a best pop time of 1.94 secs. Strong follow heading into the spring.

2025 C Bubba Crouch (University Christian, FL)

Uncommitted, currently stands at 6-foot-2, 190 pounds with present strength throughout. Quick hands through the zone from the left side, driving it back up the middle and to the pull side during batting practice. This translated to game action where he sent a bullet back up the middle after a lengthy at-bat for a single. Confident approach and stays balanced at the plate. Above average arm from behind the plate too with accurate throws to the bag and a best pop time of 1.94 secs. Strong follow. 

2025 IF Ray Yero (Miami Christian, FL)

Uncommitted, currently stands at 5-foot-9, 175 pounds with a stronger lower half. Continued to show off his above average hit tool, driving the ball all over the field during batting practice from the right side. Smooth and consistent swing through the zone. Displayed some juice as well. Sure handed fielder, plays with energy. Strong follow. 

2025 C Fabio Marquez (Elite Squad Academy, FL)

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5-foot-11, 188 pounds with a physical, athletic frame. Stood out during batting practice from the right side showing gap-to-gap power with a smooth, repeatable swing. Extra base hitter. Strong arm from behind the plate as well as he registered a best pop time of 1.97 secs. 

2026 MIF/RHP Hector Rivera (Jesuit HS, FL)

Currently stands at 5-foot-11, 175 pounds. Very strong uncommitted two-way prospect to follow this spring as he possesses multiple above average tools that translate, make an impact in game action. Offensively he shows quick hands and drives the ball gap-to-gap. Stays balanced throughout his swing with a present feel for the barrel. Confident defender up the middle that tops out at 90 mph on his throws. During game action on the mound he was impressive, facing six batters and striking out all six. Sits 87-89 mph with his fastball with life while mixing in a 77-78 mph changeup with fade and a 73-74 mph curveball with depth.

2026 RHP Jimmy Huard (Western HS, FL)

Uncommitted, currently stands at 6-foot-3, 185 pounds. Very strong follow this upcoming spring, summer as he shows real swing and miss stuff. Sits 86-89 mph with his fastball, touching 90 with life and jumps on the batter. Mixes in a 74-75 mph slider with depth and an 80-81 mph changeup. Loose, quick arm with more in there. Frame projects to continue to fill out as well.

2026 MIF/RHP Austin Knierim (Hernando HS, FL)

Uncommitted, currently standing at 5-foot-11, 170 pounds on an athletic frame with present strength. Was one of the top standouts at the event. From the left side he displayed lightning fast hands through the zone and drove the ball all over the field during batting practice. Demonstrated pull side power as well. This translated to game action where he laced one the other way for a line drive single into left field. Freely ranges to his right and left up the middle defensively with an above average arm across the diamond that tops out at 88 mph. Very strong follow.

2026 UT/C Matthew Conger (Archbishop McCarthy HS, FL)

Uncommitted, currently standing at 5-foot-10, 140 pounds on a lean frame that will continue to fill out. Showed loose, quick hands from the left side during batting practice with multiple line drives deep into right field, center field. During game action he went the other way for an RBI single, driving a ball into left field. Aggressive runner on the base paths as well. 

2026 RHP/MIF Everett Suazo (Pembroke Pines Charter, FL)

Uncommitted with a lean, athletic frame. Shows real upside on the mound, running his fastball up to 89 mph. Mostly sits 85-88 while mixing in a 72-73 mph curveball and a 79-80 mph changeup with fade. Loose, quick arm with more in the tank. Gets swings and misses with his full arsenal of pitches. Strong follow.

2027 C Bryce Besece (Jesuit HS, FL) 

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds on a physical frame. Really stood out from the left side offensively as the ball jumped off the bat with aggressive, fast hands through the zone. Consistently made loud, hard contact. Middle of the order hitter who is suited to drive in runs. Strong follow.

2027 C Jackson Taylor (Coral Springs Charter, FL)

Uncommitted, currently standing at 6-foot, 200 pounds. Has present strength throughout and it translates offensively from both sides of the plate. Drives the ball with intent from the right side while flashing present pop. From the left side he laced the ball to the pull side multiple times with hard line drives. Switch-hitting young power bat that is a strong follow.

2027 OF/RHP Trey Glaser (Pembroke Pines Charter, FL)

Uncommitted, currently standing at 5-foot-10, 155 pounds on a lean, athletic frame. Shows real potential as a two-way prospect. Offensively he displayed quick hands from the right side with lots of line drives during batting practice. Simple approach. Was also was up to 85 mph with his fastball during bullpens. Strong follow.

2027 OF Jaiden Nazario (Calvary Christian, FL)

Uncommitted, currently standing at 6-foot-2, 175 pounds on an athletic frame that will continue to become more physical. Really like the approach from the right side of the plate as he stayed balanced throughout, drove the ball to both sides of the cage during batting practice. Quick hands and stays level to the ball. Look for jumps in power to come as well.

2028 RHP Ethan Jackson 

Currently stands at 5-foot-10, 140 pounds on a lean, athletic frame that will continue to fill out, become more physical. Quick arm and featured a fastball up to 82 mph during game action, sitting 78-81. Commanded the zone extremely well for a young arm while flashing above average off-speed stuff that he throws in any count. Lots of upside, strong follow.
