Park Vista Blanks West Boca 6-0

Park Vista Blanks West Boca 6-0

Last night the Park Vista Cobras defeated the West Boca Bulls by a score of 6-0 as 2021 RHP Cam Clines (Georgia Tech commit) earned the win by throwing five shutout innings followed by a clean two innings of work from the bullpen, keeping West Boca off the scoreboard the entire night.

The Georgia Tech commit kept the West Boca lineup off balance for most of the night as he seemed to get stronger as the game went on. Featured as fastball that mostly sat 89-90 mph, touching 91 multiple times with run along with a 78-80 mph slider that showed some late movement. Finished the night with five strikeouts, scattered four hits, and walked two in five innings.

Offensively, the Cobras had a big night from FAU commit 2020 OF Nolan Schanuel who went 2-for-3 including a double with two runs scored and an RBI. 2020 1B Gavin Ragona also made an impact by going 1-for-2 on the night which included two RBIs. 2020 3B Chris Antle and 2020 OF Adrian Ojea also knocked in a run as well.

With the win, the Cobras moved to 3-0 on the year while the Bulls fell to 2-1

Standouts

2020 OF Nolan Schanuel (Park Vista HS, FL)
FAU commit. Shows lots of upside offensively on an athletic, projectable frame. Easy bat speed and finds the barrel often from the left side. In his first at-bat of the game he ripped a ball into left-center field for an easy standup double followed by a hard line drive RBI single to right field later in the game. Confident approach with gap-to-gap power. Strong follow.

2021 RHP Cam Clines (Park Vista HS, FL)
Georgia Tech commit. Earned the win by throwing five shutout innings. Fastball mostly sat in the 89-90 mph range, touching 91. Kept his velocity most of the way, still touching 90 into his last inning of work. Showed a feel for the slider more and more as the game went on, throwing it early on at 77-78 and then throwing it a little harder at 80-81 in the later innings. Big leg kick with some effort in his delivery. Seemed to get stronger as the game went on.

2020 1B Gavin Ragona (Park Vista HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Showed above average bat speed from the left side with a balanced approach. Looked to jump on the fastball and drive it back up the middle. Went 1-for-2 on the night with a pair of RBIs.
