Power Baseball 2022 Summer Teams Tryout Camp Standouts Part 1

This past weekend Power Baseball held their 2022 Summer Teams Tryout Camp for players from the 2023-2026 classes. The Power Baseball program has quickly become one of the top organizations not only in the competitive state of Florida over the past five years, but nationally as well with dozens of players who have gone on and made an impact at various levels.

With over 300 players in attendance, the tryouts stretched over three days which included bullpens on Friday night, a pro-style workout on Saturday, and additional evaluations on Sunday. Over the next few days we will be highlighting multiple players from various classes who stood out to our scouting staff throughout the weekend. 2024 RHP Schuyler Sandford (Bartram Trail HS, FL)
FSU commit. Currently stands at 6-foot-4, 190 pounds on a frame that really projects. Showed off an electric arm, running his fastball up to 93 mph during bullpens. Mostly sat 90-92 while mixing in an above average changeup at 81-82 mph and a 74-77 mph slider with depth. Loose, easy working arm and the ball really explodes out of his hand. Pounds the strike zone, stays balanced and gets quality extension out in front on his delivery. Sandford has all the makings of being a big time arm at the next level and will continue to be one of the top follows in his class nationally.

2024 RHP/OF Kaiden Lopez (Oviedo HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5-foot-10, 165 pounds on a lean, athletic frame with room to fill out. Was one of the top two-way standouts, flashing high-end potential offensively and on the mound. Up to 91 mph with his fastball that showed run, mostly sitting 88-90 during his bullpen and also mixed in an 80-81 mph changeup and 71-73 mph curveball with tighter spin. Offensively, he works in rhythm and with confidence, consistently finding the barrel for loud, hard contact. Present pull side juice. Also topped out at 90 mph from the outfield on his throws to home. Should be at the top of the list for Uncommitted 2024s to follow heading into the spring.

2023 IF/RHP Bryce Gluckman (Bishop Moore Catholic, FL)
Uncommitted. Physical, athletic frame at 6-foot-1, 195 pounds. Was one of the biggest risers this past weekend, shining as a two-way player. Mostly sat 87-89 mph with his fastball, touching 90 with life. Quick arm. Will continue to make strides on the mound and there’s more in there. Offensively, he displayed quick, strong hands through the zone and showed pull side pop, driving the ball with intent deep into left and left-center field. Uncommitted 2023 to follow closely this spring season.

2024 RHP/OF Chase Nystrom (JW Mitchell HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 160 pounds on a lean, athletic frame and plenty of room to fill out. Nystrom really shined as a two-way player as he stood out in multiple areas. Present above average athleticism which was seen with his 60 yard dash time of 6.77. Defensively he showed off a big arm from the outfield, topping out at 93 mph on his throws from right field with plenty of carry and accuracy. Displayed quick hands in the box offensively, driving the ball back up the middle multiple times for hard line drives. Frame projects for additional power to come. To top it all off, he showed off a very quick arm during his bullpen, sitting 86-87 mph with his fastball, touching 88 with life. More in the tank. Also mixed in a 75-78 mph slider with depth. Very strong follow and shows real two-way potential.

2023 RHP Matthew Shumate (Lake Mary HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 205 pounds on a physical, athletic frame. Stronger lower half. Simple windup with a quick arm, running his fastball up to 91 during his bullpens while mostly sitting 88-90 throughout. Also mixed in a 79-81 mph changeup with some fade and a 75-76 mph slider that showed late action as well. Impact arm with more in there that should be closely followed this spring as one of the top uncommitted arms still left in his class.

2023 OF Brody Pezza (Seabreeze HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 160 pounds on a lean, athletic frame. Still room to fill out and strengthen the frame. Offensively he showed above average bat speed through the zone, producing several hard line drives back up the middle during batting practice. Stays balanced and looks to drive it with intent. Ball carried very well from right field during defensive drills, topping out at 85 mph on his throws.

2024 RHP Robbie Mitchell (Oviedo HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5-foot-10, 160 pounds on an athletic frame, has gotten noticeably stronger in the lower half. Also mixed in an above average changeup with fade at 77-78 mph along with a 71-72 mph curveball that showed tighter spin, depth. Displayed a very live arm for his age, throwing a heavy fastball that sat 78-80 mph and complemented that with a 68-69 mph curveball that showed some tighter spin. Much more to come, especially as he begins to fill out. Young arm to follow closely.

2023 C Trent Kelly (The First Academy, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-2, 170 pounds on a lean, athletic frame. Will continue to fill out and become more physical. Loose, quick hands offensively and showed some present feel for the barrel, driving the ball back up the middle. Really stood out defensively with a strong arm from behind the plate with pop times in the 1.94-2.0 range that were accurate and showed carry. Also clocked in at 6.79 for his 60 yard dash time.

2025 IF Tate Bagwell (Umatilla HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5-foot-11, 140 pounds on a long, lean frame with room to fill out. Stood out offensively where he took a strong round of batting practice, staying inside with his hands and driving the ball back up the middle and into right-center field. More power to come.

2026 IF Nolan Borgia (Bishop Moore Catholic, FL)
Currently stands at 5-foot-9, 150 pounds on a lean, athletic frame. Still plenty of time to mature and fill out. Really stood out offensively when he put on a show during his batting practice round, driving the ball deep into the gaps. Creates hard contact. Balanced swing with present bat speed that shows real power potential. Young left-handed bat to follow moving forward.

2023 RHP Skylar Stinson (Apopka HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot, 150 pounds on a frame that continues to fill out, putting on additional strength. Continues to trend upward, sitting 85-87 mph with his fastball (2300+ RPM) throughout his entire bullpen. More in there and the arm is quick. Also mixed in a 70-71 mph curveball (2400+ RPM) a nasty slider at 74-76 mph (2400+ RPM) and an above average changeup at 79-80 mph. Shows a feel for all the pitches in his arsenal.
