Lake Howell Holds off Lake Brantley in 5-2 Win
Last night the Lake Brantley Patriots took on the Lake Howell Silver Hawks in a tight game early on with both pitchers keeping the opposing lineup scoreless through two innings. However, Lake Howell took advantage of a couple errors in the field for their first two runs and would score five unanswered runs including three in the bottom of the fifth.
2020 RHP Billy Poure led the way for the Silver Hawks as he posted seven strikeouts and no runs allowed in a six-inning effort. Offensively, Poure helped his own cause by going 2-for-4 at the plate which included a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Behind 5-0 late in the game the Patriots threatened in the seventh by loading the bases and pushed across two runs, but ultimately fell short of completing the comeback. Lake Howell retired the final batter via a strikeout to secure the 5-2 win.
For the Patriots, 2022 RHP/C Luke Heyman racked up six strikeouts in four innings of work and allowed two runs on three hits.
With the win Lake Howell moved to 4-4 on the year while Lake Brantley dropped to 3-6.
