2021 FACA All-Star Baseball Classic Day 1 Standouts

The 2021 FACA All-Star Baseball Classic began in Tigertown yesterday which featured some of the best talent the state of Florida has to offer. Along with numerous MLB Draft prospects, there were multiple players in attendance who project to be difference makers at the collegiate level as well.

Below highlights several players from each of the four teams (North, South, East, and West) who made an impact on Day 1 which had a pro-style workout for the position players followed by two games.

North

2021 OF Jaden Rudd (Mosley HS, FL)
Displayed a smooth and compact swing through the barrel from the left side. High baseball IQ, physicality with room to fill still. Solid contact throughout his AB's. State-Champion posted a 1.21 ERA on the mound as well. Complemented that with a .397 BA for Mosley. Notre Dame Signee.

2021 OF JoJo Blackmon (Escambia HS, FL)
Showed solid contact throughout both sides of the field. Good plate discipline with quick hands through impact. Made loud contact during his AB's as well. Alabama-Birmingham Signee

2021 LHP Cody Carwile (Fleming Island HS, FL)
FB sat around 87-88 showing a slider around 79 MPH. Produced weak contact throughout his 2 innings of work. Smooth mechanics on the mound and showed his best slider when extended. Georgia Tech signee.

2021 RHP Jose Pena (Tampa Prep, FL)
FB sat 94-96 T 97 MPH. Lively FB produced lots of swings and misses. Worked both sides of the plate and complemented that with a CH around 78 and SL was 77-79. Secondary pitches showed most movement when extended. Draft prospect is currently headed to FIU.

2021 INF Deric Fabian (North Marion HS, FL)
Very sound mechanics at the plate. Smooth and quick hands through the barrel and showed solid contact and power during BP and his AB's. Florida Commit

South

2021 INF Jimmy Thies (St. Thomas Aquinas HS, FL)
Good pop off the barrel and showed good plate discipline as well. Showed the ability to hit to both sides of the field and has a very high ceiling. Showed hard contact during his AB's as well. Alabama Signee

2021 INF Jose Hernandez (Braddock HS, FL)
Sharp contact during BP. Good angle through impact from the barrel. Quick hands at the plate and has lots of room to fill in his 6'1 170 frame. Also showed gap-to-gap power. Miami-Dade Signee

2021 1B/RHP Juan Pablo Correa (West Broward HS, FL)
Loud contact to all sides of the field during BP. Very fluent swing with effortless pop. Solid AB's today at the plate and had a nice showing on the mound sitting 87-90 MPH with a nice slider around 78 MPH. 2 scoreless innings, mechanics were very smooth and had good extension on his pitches. 2021 RHP David Rossow (Cardinal Gibbons HS, FL)
Lively FB sitting 88-90 MPH T 92 MPH with sharp break to the 79-80 mph slider. CH was also effective at 77 mph. Kept hitters off balance through his 2 innings of work. Still has lots of room to fill in. Miami Signee

2021 INF Gavin Conticello (Stoneman Douglas HS, FL)
Loud contact, smooth swing and showed effortless pop throughout all sides of the field. Tall 6'4 195 ILB frame and has room to fill in as he continues to develop. Also showed a strong arm across the diamond. USF Signee.

2021 OF Kyle Tako (Calvary Christian Academy, FL)
Solid contact at the plate, good transfer of power from his back side to impact. Strong arm from the OF as well. Athletic 6'2 200 frame and projects well. FGCU Signee

2021 OF Franklin Pinales Jr. (Pembroke Pines Charter, FL)
Displayed lots of power at the plate, as well as explosive contact to both sides of the field. Primarily a pull hitter and has a very high ceiling to complement. Very athletic 6'2 210 frame with lots of upside. Uncommitted

2021 RHP Grant Siegel (University School, FL)
FB sat 85-90 MPH and a slider sitting around 75 MPH. A little funk in his mechanics but was effective in manipulating hitters timing. Solid inning of work and will continue to fill in his 6'1 190 frame. Tulane Signee.

East

2021 1B Santino Rao (Bishop Moore Catholic, FL)
Was exciting to watch in the morning. High power with a very explosive swing. Quick hands through the plate and showed a whippy barrel as well. USF Signee.

2021 INF Jonathan Vastine (Bartow HS, FL)
Solid contact throughout both sides of the field. Does a good job staying on his back side. Very fluent swing and has a natural feel to the barrel. Very high ceiling. Vanderbilt Signee.

2021 OF Jay Allen (John Carroll HS, FL)
Made nice plays out in the OF. Tracks the ball well and showed good range with his arm as well. Hard contact at the plate, solid pop off the bat and showed huge potential as he continues to develop. Florida Signee.

2021 RHP Fisher Jameson (Park Vista HS, FL)
6'5 230 ILB frame showed a FB that sat 88-90 T 92 MPH that had a good downhill angle which produced weak contact. CH effective around 80-82 MPH that had hitters on their toes. Lots of swings and misses. WIll be a very exciting arm to follow as he has lots of potential as he continues to fill in. Florida Commit.

2021 RHP Kris Sosnowski (Jesuit HS, FL)
FB sat 88-91 with his slider around 71-74 mph. Worked primarily downhill and produced weak ground ball contact throughout his outing. Slightly opening up on glove side but secondary pitches showed most movement when extended. UCF Signee.

2021 RHP Gavin Adams (St. John Paul II HS, FL)
FB 86-88 T 89 MPH with a comfortable feel to his slider around 72 and CH that sat 81-82 MPH. Worked 2 scoreless innings and produced weak contact as well. FB also had late movement and mechanics were quick and showed a whippy arm action. Uncommitted.

West

2021 RHP Karson Ligon (Sarasota Riverview, FL)
FB sat 89-92 MPH with a sharp slider sitting 77-79 MPH. Kept hitters off balance and pounded the strike zone. Jammed and made hitters feel very uncomfortable at the plate.Late break to his secondary pitches as well. Miami Signee.

2021 C Cole Russo (Jesuit HS, FL)
Has been exciting to watch from the start of the spring. Russo showed good power at the plate and put together solid AB's that showed solid contact and has a very explosive swing. Has a natural feel to the barrel and will continue to develop. Strong arm behind the plate as well. UCF Signee.

2021 INF Tommy White (IMG Academy, FL)
Very explosive contact and also showed high power at the plate. During BP, knocked multiple balls into the gap and off the wall, and some that ended over the left field wall. Very quick hands through the barrel and effortless pop. Made nice defensive plays on the field and hard contact at the plate as well. NC State Signee.

2021 LHP Jac Caglianone (Plant HS, FL)
Came out of the gates throwing his first 4 pitches sitting 96-97. FB sat around 94-96 and topped 97 mph. Lots of swing and misses as well as producing late contact. Florida Signee.

2021 INF Zach Ehrhard (Wharton HS, FL)
Solid performance on the field and at the plate. Showed a strong arm across the diamond and had solid AB's as well. Disciplined hitter and was able to hit to both sides of the field. Worked the count in his AB's as well. Oklahoma State Signee.

2021 RHP Connor Whittaker (Sarasota HS, FL)
FB sat 87-89 and topped at 90 mph. Showed a slider at 73-76 mph and was very comfortable throwing his slider in any count. Pounded the strike zone and attacked right away. Threw lots of first-pitch strikes. FSU Signee.

2021 RHP Anthony Ursitti (Canterbury HS, FL)
FB sat 88-90 T 91 MPH. Collected a pair of K's in both innings of work. FB had lots of life with some late fade. Loose arm, lots of swings and misses. Florida Commit.
