Bats Wake Up Late For The Warriors in Nail Biter 6-5 Victory Against Plant
The Steinbrenner Warriors took a trip to Wade Boggs Field to take on 2021 Draft Prospect Jac Caglianone and the Plant High School Panthers.
Caglianone is a 2021 LHP committed to the University of Florida. The 6'5 210 ILB lefty was able to work around a few jams caused by a few defensive mistakes during his 4 innings of work. His fastball was producing lots of swings and misses, working both sides of the plate along with constantly changing eye-levels. He also was confident enough to throw his secondary stuff behind counts as well. Caglianone struck out 8 and only allowed 2 hits on 1 earned run.
Joey Daniels is a 2022 C/RHP who opposed Caglianone. He tossed a strong performance of 4 innings only allowing 2 Earned Runs on 4 Hits, striking out two. He also threw roughly 70% strikes throughout his outing.
The game was knotted up at 1 entering the 3rd inning as errors on the field scored a run for both teams early. Conditions started to become sloppy as moderate rain continued throughout the majority of the game.
2022 INF Chris Roberts wasn't satisfied with just the 1 run. In the top of the 3rd inning, Roberts knocked a deep RBI Double to left to score 2021 Tayden Hall (USF Commit) after he started the inning off with a single.
In the Bottom of the 4th, 2021 INF Preston Urso tied the game right back to 2 with an RBI single up the middle to score 2021 INF Matt Cedola.
Entering the top of the 6th was when Steinbrenner decided to break the game open a bit. Roberts striked back with a 2-Run RBI Double to give the Warriors a 5-3 lead. 2021 Andrew Burns later reached on an error to score Roberts from second to extend their lead 6-3.
The Panthers were not able to strike back in the 6th, but the bottom of the 7th became a nail biter, all with 2 outs. 2021 INF Sam Meade and 2021 INF Matt Cedola both reached on errors. Meade later scored on a wild pitch, which made the game 6-4. 2023 Bryce Pelleriti and Urso were also both HBP, which loaded up the bases, with the winning run at 1st base. A wild pitch would later bring in Cedola to make it 6-5. 2022 INF Reece Soper worked a great AB, in which he walked, but the rally lost steam after a come-backer to 2022 RHP Camden Boyer, who locked down the save.

2021 LHP Jac Caglianone (Plant HS, FL)
Florida Commit. Caglianone is a tall 6'5 210 frame that posted a state line of 4IP 2H 1ER 3BB 8K. Caglianone was sitting 90-94 up to 95 mph with a tight break to the slider, with some of his breaking pitches showing some 12/6 shape. His Changeup was very effective, sitting around 80-82. He kept hitters off balance throughout his outing. Very high ceiling and potential top 5 round pick in this year's upcoming draft. Has been up to 97 in the past.
2022 INF Chris Roberts (Steinbrenner HS, FL)
Chris Roberts is an uncommitted INF who started at shortstop last night. His impact last night put a dent into the scoreboard as he scored once and went 2-3 with 3 RBI's. Fast hands and showed a strong arm as well defensively. He has a short and compact swing and won't be on the radar much longer. Very projectable. Will be a strong follow.
2022 C/RHP Joey Daniels (Steinbrenner HS, FL)
Daniels had a very efficient and effective outing last night. FB sat 82-85 mph with his curveball showing late break. His fastball also has late life and was able to work both sides of the plate. He also threw 70% strikes throughout his 4 innings of work and maintained his composure well on the mound.
