The tryouts stretched over three days which included batting practice on Friday night, a pro-style workout on Saturday, and games on Sunday. Over the next few days we will be highlighting multiple players from various classes who stood out to our scouting staff over the weekend. 2023s

OF/LHP Wes Mendes (Jesuit HS, FL)
Vanderbilt commit. Present above average athleticism, physical frame with a stronger lower half. During batting practice he created lots of loud, hard contact and drove the ball deep into left-center, center field for deep line drives. Also displayed some present pull side pop as well. This translated to gameplay where he crushed a ball to the right field wall for a standup triple. Moves around the base paths well. Throws from the outfield are accurate and show carry in the low 90s. Also pitches in the low 90s on the mound. Mendes brings plenty to the lineup from a two-way perspective and will continue to be another strong draft follow moving forward.

C Kodi Deskins (Clearwater Central Catholic, FL)
Uncommitted. Solid frame with some present physicality, strong lower half. Continued to stand out from behind the plate defensively, displaying a strong and accurate arm down to the bag with pop times in the 1.91-1.99 seconds range. Receives well and shows the ability to keep the ball in front of him. Offensively he creates some lift and drives the ball to the pull side with intent. Above average defensive catcher to follow with offensive potential.

MIF Keeton Burroughs (Calvary Christian HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Lean, athletic frame with room to fill out. Stood out offensively during his batting practice round where he displayed quick hands and sprayed the ball gap-to-gap. Trusts his hands and stays balanced with a simple approach. Accurate arm across the diamond.

2024s

C Andrew Tess (Calvary Christian HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Lean, athletic frame that will continue to become more physical. Tess made his presence felt all throughout the weekend offensively as he not only stood out during batting practice, but during gameplay as well. Above average bat speed from the right side that seems to find the barrel consistently. Laced multiple line drives back up the middle during his batting practice rounds. Followed that up during the game when he drove a ball deep over the right fielder’s head for a standup double. Throws down to the bag from behind the plate were accurate, showed a loose arm, and registered pop times in the 2.0-2.06 seconds range. Strong follow.

RHP Will Eaton (Calvary Christian HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Lean, projectable frame. Stood out during the game with two quick innings of work as he racked up multiple strikeouts with lots of swings and misses. Mostly sat 80-82 mph with his fastball, but there’s more in there and a jump could be coming soon. Also mixed in a 66-68 mph curveball with depth, throws it for strikes. High follow.

MIF/RHP Kole Hopkins (Tarpon Springs HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Tall, projectable, athletic frame. During batting practice he put together a couple of strong rounds, driving the ball to the pull side for multiple hard line drives. Also showcased some pull side juice. There’s still more power in there and he has a chance to be middle of the order run producer. Up to 81 mph on the mound as well. Lots to like moving forward.

MIF/RHP Jace Kohler (Calvary Christian HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Lean, athletic frame. Stood out offensively as he works in rhythm and looks to drive the ball with intent into the gaps. Quick hands and stays balanced throughout his swing, allowing him to find the barrel and drive it. Should see a jump in power as well as he continues to fill out and strengthen his frame. Plays with some quickness in his step, makes the plays up the middle defensively.

IF Jayden Harriel (East Lake HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Big frame with some present strength that translates offensively. Ball really jumps off the bat and he’s able to create lift, especially to the pull side and driving the ball deep. The hands are strong and quick through the zone. Extra base hitter who can put one over the wall as well. Strong follow.

2025s

3B Andres Rodriguez III (Tarpon Springs HS, FL)
Athletic frame that works out of a simple approach in the box. Took a couple of strong rounds of batting practice, producing multiple line drives back up the middle and into left-center field. Above average bat speed. Young bat that has the potential to be a gap-to-gap, extra base hitter.

MIF/OF Willie Kimbler (Albany Academy, NY)
Very athletic, quick twitch. Offensively, he starts from a strong base and loads into contact very well, landing him in a quality position to launch the baseball. This translated to gameplay when he roped a ball into the right-center field gap for an easy standup double. Gamer.

13/14u

2027 3B/RHP Samir Mohammed
Big frame and was able to really impact the baseball with intent. During batting practice he displayed some easy power and showed above average bat to ball skills. Several line drives were laced back up the middle with loud, hard contact. Power potential.

2027 RHP/C Camden Bohem
Athletic frame and stood out offensively with fast hands through the zone. Lots of pop in his swing and goes after his pitch to hit aggressively. Consistently fired balls to the back of the net during his batting practice rounds. Top of the order like hitter.
