Florida Prime Sports Summer 2022 Tryouts Standouts

Last weekend Florida Prime Sports held their 2022 Summer Tryouts for players from the 2022-2025 classes. The tryouts included a pro-style workout for position players along with bullpens for pitchers. Below is a breakdown of the standouts which features a player report on 10+ players that made an impact to our scouting staff.

2022’s

OF Tyler Mills (Clay HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5’11 205 lbs on a compact frame with a strong lower half. Mills stood out during batting practice where he showed quick hands and found the barrel well, creating loud, hard contact. Strong follow as he enters his senior season. 

OF/RHP Shane McLaughlin (Bartram Trail HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Stands at 6’2 165 lbs on a lean frame that looks to add more physicality. During I/O McLaughlin had accurate throws with carry from the outfield. Offensively he displayed quick hands and an above average feel for the barrel from the left side. 

2023’s

RHP/MIF Garrett Robertson (Bartram Trail HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6’2 165 lbs on a long lean frame. Whippy arm. Above average feel for his off speed stuff and showed good depth with his curveball. Strong follow as he continues to develop. 

MIF/RHP Aidan Hampton (Clay HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6’3 170 lbs on a lean frame. Does a good job of staying balanced throughout his swing and repeats it well, present pullside power potential. Hampton displayed above average bat speed as well, which should translate to additional power as he gains physicality. Strong follow. 

C/IF Connor Gilliam (Creekside HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Athletic frame with a stronger lower half shows a confident approach in the box. Stays balanced throughout his swing and found the barrel consistently for loud, hard contact.

2024’s

RHP/OF Jesse Murrell (Bartram Trail HS, FL)
USF Commit. Currently stands at 6’4 195 lbs on an athletic frame that will continue to become more physical. Offensively he looks to attack the ball out in front and showcased above average feel for the barrel with present pullside power potential. Murrell also registered an exit velocity of 100 mph, the highest of the day. High follow to watch as he continues to develop. 

C/IF Dawson Vaughn (Creekside HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6’1 220 lbs on a strong, durable frame ready to log plenty of innings behind the plate. Really swings with intent and drives the ball deep into the gaps. Fast hands and easy bat speed from the right side. Also registered an exit velocity of 90 mph. Strong follow.

2024 OF Brandt Moritz (Bartram Trail HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Lean, athletic frame that will continue to fill out which will translate into additional power. Displayed quick hands and drove the ball into the gaps during batting practice. Some present feel for the barrel.

3B/RHP Walker Cloudt (Bartram Trail HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6’0 175 lbs on an athletic frame. During batting practice Cloudt found the barrel often for hard hit line drives deep into the gaps. He also displayed a balanced swing with pullside power potential. Strong follow.

MIF/C Robin Vergara (Bartram Trail HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5’8 185 lbs on a powerful frame with a strong lower half. Switch hitter with quick hands through the zone. Vergara also displayed present juice from the left side, where he registered an exit velo of 90 mph. Strong follow.

2025’s 

MIF Skylar Kokoszka (Tocoi Creek HS, FL)
Uncommitted. Relaxed and controlled actions in the diamond and accurate throws with carry. During batting practice he stood out with present bat speed from the right side. Produced multiple hard hit line drives up the middle, registering a top exit velocity of 85 mph. Strong follow.
