Power Baseball 2023 Summer Teams Tryout Camp Standouts Part 3

From January 13th-15th, Power Baseball held their 2023 Summer Teams Tryout Camp which took place at the Turn2 Sports and Performance Center along with Lake Brantley HS in Orlando, FL. Over the three-day stretch players went through bullpens, a pro-style workout, and game action. With over 325 players in attendance ranging from the 2024-2026 classes, there was tons of talent all over the field. 

Below is Part 3 of the standouts highlighted from the event that made an impact on our scouting staff and will be strong follows moving forward as we head into the spring season. Part 2 is HERE

2024s

2024 MIF Brodie Johnston (Boyd Buchanan HS, TN)

Vanderbilt commit. Was one of the top standouts at the event. Athletic frame with present strength throughout. Put on an impressive round of batting practice, displaying present power with easy bat speed from the right side. Ball really jumped off the bat and went deep into the gaps. Registered a top exit velocity of 97 mph. Defensively he showed smooth, athletic actions up the middle and fielding the ball under control and with confidence. Above average arm that topped out at 90 mph across the diamond. Top of the lineup hitter, very strong follow.

2024 RHP Blayke Rabens (Windermere HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Lean frame that will continue to fill out. Quick arm and stays balanced throughout his windup, allowing him to throw lots of strikes. Featured a fastball that mostly sat 85-86 mph (has been up to 89 previously) while mixing in a 78-79 mph changeup with some fade and a 71-72 mph curveball with depth. Present feel for all his pitches. More in the tank. Strong follow this spring. 

2024 MIF Austin Jacobs (Hagerty HS, FL)

FSU commit. Present athleticism and continues to become more physical, especially in the lower half. Natural feel to hit with barrel control. Loose, fast hands from the right side and consistently drove the ball all over the field. Gap-to-gap hitter with some pull side pop as well. Makes the plays up the middle defensively with accurate throws across the diamond. Fields the ball with confidence. Key difference maker in the lineup. Strong follow. 

2024 RHP Maddox McDougall (Wiregrass Ranch HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Athletic frame that projects. Loose arm and the ball came out of his hand with ease. During his bullpen he featured a fastball that mostly sat 87-89 mph with run along with a 77-78 mph slider. Also displayed an above average changeup at 81-82 mph with similar fastball arm speed. Another jump is coming soon. Strong follow. 

2024 RHP/IF Jackson Bellhorn (The Master’s Academy, FL)

Uncommitted. Athletic frame with present physicality. Stood out as a two-way prospect throughout the event. On the mound he featured a fastball that sat 85-87 mph with run along with a 74-75 mph curveball and a 73-74 mph changeup with some fade. More to come. Offensively he showed quick hands from the right side and drove the ball back up the middle with intent, along with some line drives into the left-center field gap. Up the middle he fields the ball with confidence and throws are accurate to the bag. Strong follow. 

2024 RHP Kaden Smith (Forest HS, FL)

TCU commit. Tall, projectable frame. Loose, quick arm with more in there. Works from a simple windup and stays in line with the plate on his delivery. Featured a fastball that mostly sat 89-91 mph, filling up the zone. Also mixed in a 76-78 mph above average slider with depth while flashing a low 80s changeup. Throws all his pitches for strikes. Strong follow.

2024 IF Cooper Collins (Buchholz HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Lean, athletic frame that will continue to fill out which will translate to additional jumps in his overall game. Simple approach from the right side offensively that sprayed the ball all over the field. Trust his hands and produced plenty of line drives during batting practice. Gap-to-gap power to come. Up the middle he fielded the ball out in front and made accurate throws to the bag. Above average runner as well who clocked in at 6.82 seconds for his 60 yard dash time. Strong follow. 

2025s

2025 RHP Kyle Hopper (The First Academy, FL)

Uncommitted. Tall, projectable frame with room to fill out. Continues to trend upward as he ran his fastball up to 87 mph sitting 84-86. Quick arm and stays in line towards the plate. Creates some downhill action with more in the tank. Also mixed in a 78-79 mph changeup and a 73-74 mph slider with some depth. Expect to see another jump fairly soon. Strong follow. 

2025 MIF Elijah Buffaloe (Timber Creek HS, FL) 

Uncommitted. Present athleticism and shows above average instincts all over the field. Stood out most notably on defense as he has quick feet, ranges freely to his right and left, fields the ball under control. Bounces around and takes good angles to the ball. Offensively he displayed present bat speed from both sides of the plate. Works in rhythm and stays balanced. Drives the ball back up the middle and flashes some pull side juice, especially from the left side. Strong follow.

2025 C Austin Pierzynski (The First Academy, FL)

Uncommitted. Physical, athletic frame. Continues to trend upward as he stood out all throughout the event. Fast, strong hands through the zone from the right side offensively that found the barrel multiple times for hard hit line drives. Some present power as well. Swings with intent and can really drive the ball. Behind the plate he keeps the ball in front of him, gets into a quality position. Throws to the bag were on line and accurate. Strong follow.

2025 MIF Brody Graham (Barron Collier HS, FL)

UCF commit. Athletic frame with some present strength throughout. Still room to fill out which will translate to jumps in power offensively. Really stood out from a defensive standpoint as he showed soft hands, quality footwork, and accurate throws across the diamond. Ranged backhand and forehand while consistently making the plays. Offensively he works from a simple approach from the right side and looked to work gap-to-gap with a line drive approach. Strong follow.

2026s

2026 LHP/OF Trenton Ramsey (Trinity Catholic, FL) 

Miami commit. Loose, athletic frame with plenty of projection. Was one of the top standouts at the event for his class. Fast arm and the ball jumps out of his hand. Featured a fastball that was up to 87 mph with life, mostly pitching at 85-86. More in there. Also mixed in a 78-79 mph changeup with fade and a 74-75 mph curveball with tighter spin. Offensively he was just as impressive as the ball really jumped off the bat from the left side. Sent multiple pitches deep to the center field and right-center field wall. Clocked in at 6.84 seconds for his 60 yard dash time and topped out at 88 mph on his throws from the outfield that showed plenty of carry. Two-way prospect with big-time potential, most notably on the mound. Very strong follow. 

2026 OF/RHP Mason Jones (Yulee HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Tall, athletic frame. Jones has continued to elevate himself as a legit two-way prospect. During his bullpen the ball really jumped out of his hand, running his fastball up to 85 mph. Mostly pitched at 83-84 while flashing an above average curveball at 70-72 mph along with a 77-78 mph changeup. Offensively he displays above average bat speed from the right side and barreled up multiple pitches for hard hit line drives. Present juice as well. Clocked in at 6.95 seconds for his 60 yard dash time while showing a big arm from the outfield, topping out at 86 mph. Strong follow this spring. 

2026 RHP/OF Maddux Bultema (Lake Minneola HS, FL) 

Uncommitted. Physical, athletic frame. Two-way prospect who continues to stand out. On the mound he displayed a quick arm, running his fastball up to 84 mph. Also mixed in a 78-79 mph changeup and a 66-67 mph curveball with depth. More to come. Offensively he showed loose, fast hands from the right side allowing him to drive the ball with intent all over the field. Additional gap-to-gap power to come. Topped out at 83 mph on his throws from the outfield with an above average arm. Strong follow.
