Eagles Soar in the Sixth for Comeback Win, Rodriguez Ks 10
It was another night of FHSAA playoff baseball as it was an intense regional semi-final game as the Stoneman Douglas Eagles took on the Park Vista Cobras. The pitching matchup featured two high-end arms with 2023 RHP Christian Rodriguez took the mound for the Eagles, as 2021 RHP Fisher Jameson opposed him for the Cobras.

Both pitchers were firing on all cylinders as 3 and a half innings were completed after 32 minutes from first pitch, but it wasn't until mother nature decided to take its course with cloud to ground lightning.
The game resumed play around 6 PM after an hour and a half delay. Both teams were scoreless after 4 innings, but it wasn't until the Park Vista Cobras had something cooking in the Top of the 5th after 2 walks set up 2021 OF Jacob Hurley for an RBI opportunity, which he then sent a 3-Run shot over the right-center fence for a 3-0 lead.
The Eagles struck back in the bottom half of the 5th after a solo shot from 2022 Christian Arroyo lifted a solo shot over right-center field to cut the deficit to 3-1.
The Cobras bats were silent for the rest of the game, and that gave the Eagles momentum into the 6th. In the bottom half of the inning, the Eagles began to set up for a rally with 2 outs.
After 2 errors in the inning and a single from 2022 Santiago Ordonez, that set up 2022 Jake Clemente to the plate, who delivered a clutch 2-run RBI single up the middle to tie the game up at 3. After a walk issued to 2022 Cameron Harris, that loaded up the bases for Christian Arroyo, who was then hit by pitch to give the Eagles a 4-3 lead, followed by a passed ball to score Clemente to make it 5-3.
2022 Sam Beir closed out the game with a clean 14-pitch inning as the Eagles advanced to the Regional Final to face Palm Beach Gardens.

2023 RHP Christian Rodriguez (Douglas)
5'10 Frame, full of potential and a very exciting arm to follow. FB lived 89-93 MPH topping out at 94 MPH. Outstanding velocity different on secondary pitches, showing a 72 MPH CH followed by a slider around 76 MPH. Very fluent mechanics, pitches with lots of energy. Good tempo on the mound as well. Tossed 6 effective innings with only allowing 1 hit and punching out 10. Very high ceiling and he won't be uncommitted much longer. Future MLB draft prospect as well.
2022 OF Christian Arroyo (Douglas)
6'1 Frame, lots of power at the plate, went 1-2 with 2 RBI's with a solo shot. Good pop, fast hands and shows good leverage on his swing. Exciting follow as he continues to develop and has room to fill as well. FIU Commit
2022 OF Jake Clemente (Douglas)
6'2 Frame, came up clutch with the game-tying 2-Run single in the bottom of the 6th. Good patience at the plate as well, made hard contact throughout his AB's as well. Strong arm as well with good speed on the bases. UF Commit
2021 RHP Fisher Jameson (Park Vista)
6'5 Frame, up-tempo mechanics. Was very comfortable throwing his secondary pitches on all counts. Live arm, FB sat 89-91 T 92 MPH. Good fade to the Slider, sitting around 76-79 MPH. Was able to maintain his velocity throughout his strong 5 innings of work. Tossed 5 2/3 innings allowing only 1 ER with 6 K's. Good composure on the mound. Florida Signee
2021 OF Jacob Hurley (Park Vista)
5'11 Frame, launched a big 3-Run shot in the 5th. Covered lots of ground in the OF and showed a strong arm. Has been a huge asset for the Cobras throughout the season and will continue to develop and he shows a high ceiling and will be a strong follow to watch at the collegiate level.
