Selective Recruiting Top 100 Showcase Class of 2023/2024 Top 10 Standouts

This past week Selective Recruiting held their Top 100 Showcase which featured invite-only players ranging from the 2023-2026 Classes. Position players went through a pro-style workout the first couple days while pitchers threw bullpens. This was then followed by live game action with the 2023/2024 class facing off along with the 2025/2026s.

Below are the top 10 standouts from the event in the 2023/2024 classes that made an impact on our scouting staff and will be strong follows moving forward. Saturday we will highlight the top 2025/2026 standouts.

2023 C Mateo Serna (American Heritage HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Physical, athletic frame, especially in the lower half that he implements offensively to drive the baseball. Really stands out from the left side as the hands are fast and strong through the zone, allowing him to impact the baseball with loud, hard contact. Ball really jumps off the bat. Present power to anywhere on the field. Drove the ball for base hits both into the left-center and right-center field gaps during gameplay. Aggressive runner who got good jumps, stole a bag during the game. Strong follow.

2023 RHP John Caballero (Pace HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Tall frame that projects. Was one of the top arms at the event, showing swing and miss stuff with upside. Featured a fastball that sat 88-91 mph consistently with 2500+ RPM. Life to the fastball and comes out of his hand easy. Also displayed a hard curveball with tight spin at 76-79 mph. More velocity to come, pounds the strike zone. Strong follow.

2023 MIF Luis Lorenzo (Western HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Lean, athletic frame that will continue to become more physical. Lots of smooth, easy actions all over the field. Above average athleticism which was shown with one of the best times at the event in 6.63 seconds for his 60 yard dash. Offensively the hands are quick through the zone with a present feel for the barrel. Shows the ability to produce hard hit line drives with pull side juice as well. Confident defender who ranges freely to his left and right with an above average arm across the diamond. Strong follow.

2023 RHP Matthew Someillan (Miami Christian, FL)

Uncommitted. Athletic frame that will continue to fill out, become more physical. Loose, quick arm that impressed both during his bullpen and in-game action. Featured a fastball that that was mostly 87-90 mph with 2300+ RPM. Also mixed in a 73-76 mph curveball with, three for strikes. More in there, arm that has a chance to make another jump fairly soon. Strong follow.

2023 C Dylan Escobar (Pembroke Pines Charter, FL)

Uncommitted. Athletic frame with a strong lower half. Stood out offensively where he displayed loose, quick hands that allowed him to drive the ball all over the field with intent. Ball really jumps off the bat and unlocks present power from the lower half. Was moving during his 60 yard dash, clocking in at 6.74 seconds. Strong and accurate arm from behind the plate with pop times in the 1.97-2.05 seconds range. Strong follow.

2024 OF Julian Irizarry (Westminster Academy, FL)

Uncommitted. Athletic frame with some present strength throughout, still room to fill out. Toolsy outfielder that continued to stand out in multiple ways throughout the event. Came out of the gate flying for the 60 yard dash, clocking in at 6.61 seconds. Quick, athletic strides. Above average bat speed from the left side that allows him to drive the ball gap-to-gap as well as present power. During one of his at-bats in game, he got ahold of one and crushed it deep over the center field wall for a two-run home run. Quick first step defensively in the outfield. Strong follow.

2024 RHP Hector Escobar (Miami Christian, FL)

Uncommitted. Athletic frame that works with a quicker pace on the mound. Quick arm that featured a fastball at 84-86 mph, touching 87 with some run. Also mixed in a 75-76 mph curveball with shape, depth while flashing a 79-80 mph changeup during his outing. Generated some swings and misses while looking to work down in the zone. More in there. 2024 RHP Anthony Quigley (Taravella HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Tall frame that will continue to become more physical. Loose, quick arm that jumps on the batter. Featured a fastball that sat 84-87 mph with 2300+ RPM. Mixed in an above average curveball at 71-72 mph with 2400+ RPM while flashing a 77-78 mph changeup. Strong follow.

2024 RHP Kevin Clemente (Mater Academy, FL)

Uncommitted. Big, strong frame that showed plenty of upside on the mound. Throws a heavy fastball at 84-86 mph with 2400+ RPM. More in there and looks to generate swings and misses along with weak contact. Also mixed in a 73-75 mph curveball. Strong follow with more in the tank.

2024 RHP Devin Grazzal (McArthur HS, FL)

Uncommitted. Projectable frame. Quick arm that featured a fastball at 83-85 mph, touching 86 with arm side run. Mixed in a 67-70 mph curveball with 12/6 action and depth along with a 79-80 mph changeup that showed some fade to it. Arm that has a chance to make some jumps as he continues to fill out. Strong follow.
